Striker Carlos Fernández is the last signing of the summer for Depor. He has had a promising career at Sevilla Atlético, but without chances to play for the first team.

The club announced on Thursday the signing of striker Carlos Fernández. The 22-year-old attacker arrived that same day to A Coruña and completed the medicals; he will be presented on Friday. It’s a loan deal negotiated with Sevilla CF, but neither the Andalusian club nor Deportivo confirmed if the deal includes a buyout option. The player will be presented on Friday and Carmelo Del Pozo will also address the media.

Carlos Fernández is a young and promising start that has made his career alternating between the first and the second team of Sevilla CF. At the age of 17 he was already playing at Segunda B, actually he was the top-scorer of Sevilla Atlético during the season 2013/14 (8 goals in 28 games at Segunda B).

That performance allowed his debut with the first team when he was still 17. It was for a 0-2 Copa defeat against Racing Santander (December 18, 2013). What happened next was that he continued shinning with the B squad, but wasn’t getting opportunities with the first team.

During the season 2015/16, the Andalusian attacker was once again the top-scorer of Sevilla Atlético (15 goals in 32 Segunda B games), and only had the chance to play for 28 minutes with the first team. The situation didn’t change even when the team was promoted to Segunda A.

Last season, Carlos was the top-scorer of Sevilla Atlético playing at Segunda A (8 goals in 24 meetings), but only had minutes twice with the first team, one of those meeting was during a 0-0 draw at the Riazor against Deportivo (67 minutes). Now, with the team back at Segunda B, he decided to close this stage on his career and pushed for an exit.

The striker is the fourteenth reinforcement for Deportivo ahead of the season 2018/19 after the signings of goalkeepers Dani Giménez and David Ortolá, right-back David Simón, left-back Sebastián Dubarbier, centre-backs Pablo Mari, Michele Somma and Domingos Duarte, winger Pedro Sánchez, midfielders Didier Moreno, Álex Bergantiños and Vicente Gómez plus strikers Christian Santos and Quique González
