THINKING OF ELCHE CF

11 Oct 2018
Borja Valle will be available for the game, while Vicente Gómez will make a late test on Thursday. Quique was suspended despite the appeal. Elche CF is suffering a big hit as top-scorer Sory Kaba is in international duty.

Depor are still trying to climb some positions and face a new game at home with the visit of Elche CF to the Riazor (Friday, 21h00 CET). After a couple of weeks suffering casualties with the injuries, coach Natxo González is finally recovering men.

Striker Borja Valle should be available for the meeting; he has been out since September 1 due to a toe injury and started to train with the squad this Monday. Meanwhile midfielder Vicente Gómez joined the group on Wednesday and will make a late test on Thursday in order to see if he can be fit for the game. The Canarian skipped the game with Málaga CF due to a thigh problem.

But there are bad news too as the competition committee rejected the appeal of Deportivo for Quique González, who saw a direct red card during the past game hosting Málaga CF. The striker is suspended for this game.

The two players that remain injured are left-back Sebastian Dubarbier and playmaker Fede Cartabia. Dubarbier is out since the Copa game with Zaragoza due to a thigh injury (September 19) and could be joining the group on next week, while Cartabia will return until the end of the year. A fourth player missing the game is Didier Moreno, the midfielder is concentrated with Colombia for two friendly games.

Elche CF only added two points in the first four matchdays, but since then they are undefeated (6 points in the next 4 games). The problem for coach José Rojo ‘Pacheta’ is that striker Sory Kaba is missing the game at the Riazor, he has scored 6 of the 7 goals conquered by Elche CF on the league season and is skipping the next two games as he is concentrated with Guinea for two friendly games.

There are other two casualties for the game: defender Alexander González and midfielder Josan Ferrández, both are in the final phase of recovery from an adductor muscle injury, but they won’t arrive in time for Friday’s game. Meanwhile, winger Iván Sánchez is doubtful with a hamstring injury.
