Depor are losing Quique González, but recover Vicente Gómez and Borja Valle. The rival is having big problems in attack with the casualties of Sory Kaba and Iván Sánchez.

Referee: Valentín Pizarro Gómez
Kick-off: 21h00 CET (Riazor)

Quique González and Sory Kaba are out of the game, which means that two of the top-scorer at Segunda won’t be at the Riazor. Both men, together with Rubén Castro and Antonio Puertas, have scored six goals in the league. Kaba is the most determinant player in the league as he has netted 6 of the 7 goals by Elche on the season (86%). Meanwhile Quique has scored 5 of Depor’s 11 goals (45%).

Elche CF and Córdoba CF were the last teams to win a game in the league, though before the Valencian outfit eliminated Granada CF in Copa and later chained three straight draws in la liga. Depor arrive to the game with 15 points in 8 games, which is a better mark compared to the previous two seasons at Segunda (13 on the campaign 2011/12 and 13 on the campaign 2013/14).

Deportivo have won seven of the last ten liga games against Elche CF playing at the Riazor, including the last four. Actually, the Valencians have only scored three goals in their last nine visits to A Coruña ending scoreless in six opportunities.

Coach Natxo González is making a change in the diamond figure at midfield, Vicente Gómez only completed two training sessions on this week, but he received the medical okay to play and goes directly into the starting eleven covering the absence of Didier Moreno.

Natxo stated that Vicente isn’t ready to play for 90 minutes, but it was the alternative tested on Thursday. Edu Expósito was tested in that position the day before. The other change is the presence of Christian Santos in attack replacing suspended Quique González.

Team news: There are four casualties for the game. Fede Cartabia and Sebastian Dubarbier remain at the injury room. Quique González is suspended, while Didier Moreno is concentrated with Colombia’s national team.  The players out for tactical reasons are Eneko Bóveda and Gerard Valentín.

Man to watch: Striker Christian Santos. The Venezuelan has had a slow start at Depor as he suffered an inopportune injury in the last stretch of the pre-season, later missed the chance to earn a place at the starting lineup for been concentrated with his national team.  Now he has a new opportunity as he is the chosen one to cover the spot of suspended Quique González.

Picked players: (18) Dani Giménez, Ortolá (goalkeepers); David Simón, Pablo Mari, Domingos Duarte, Somma, Saúl García, Caballo (defenders); Edu Expósito, Álex Bergantiños, Pedro Mosquera, Krohn-Dehli, Vicente Gómez, Carles Gil, Pedro Sánchez (midfielders); Carlos Fernández, Christian Santos & Borja Valle (attackers)

Predicted lineup: (4-3-1-2) Dani Giménez – David Simón, Pablo Mari, Domingos Duarte, Saúl – Vicente Gómez, Mosquera, Krohn-Dehli – Carles Gil – Christian Santos, Carlos Fernández.

Tough times for Elche CF, in 2015 Los Ilicitanos suffered the first ever demotion at the Spanish elite due to non-sporting reasons. The drama ended pulling the club to Segunda B in 2017, but the Valencians have bounced back and are back at the second tier, though with some limitations, like been the second lowest salary cap in the league (€3.85 million).

The worst part isn’t over yet as the club remains in administration trying to clear a debt of €40 million. Still, coach José Rojo Martín ‘Pacheta’ has been able to build up a team that, for now, is out of relegation after adding the first win of the season.

Team news: Sory Kaba is in international duty with Guinea, and he isn’t the only important casualty in attack as right winger Iván Sánchez didn’t surpass the muscle issues that pulled him out of the game against CD Lugo. In the end, coach Pacheta only had 18 players for the game as defender Alexander González and midfielder Josan Ferrández are out with adductor muscle injuries. Depor’s keeper Francis Uzoho is unavailable as he is concentrated with Nigeria. There are 19 players in the roster as Pacheta picked keeper Adrián Real from the B squad.

Man to watch: Striker Benja Martínez. The 31-year-old attacker has the tough challenge of replacing Sory Kaba, he scored 36 goals within the last two seasons at Segunda B and now wants to seize the opportunity and score his first goal of the campaign.

Picked players: (19) Jose Juan Figueras, Adrián Real (goalkeepers); Sergio Blázquez ‘Tekio’, Gonzalo Verdú, Neyder Lozano, Iván Zotko, Manu Rodriguez, Juan Cruz, Carlos Redruello ‘Redru’ (defenders); Manu Sánchez, Daniel Provencio, Gonzalo Villar, Xavi Torres, Víctor Moya ‘Chuca’, Jony Ñíguez, Javi Flores, Borja Martínez (midfielders); Nino & Benja Martínez (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-4-2) Juan José Figueras – Tekio, Gonzalo Verdú, Neider Lozano, Juan Cruz – Borja Martínez, Manu Sánchez, Javi Flores, Redru – Nino, Benja Martínez.
