THINKING OF CF REUS

26 Oct 2018
Depor face the game with five casualties, including Pablo Mari. The rival has the shortest squad in the league due to problems with the salary cap.

Deportivo return to the Riazor in order to face FC Reus (Saturday, 18h00 ET). And it does it after the shock of what happened in the previous visit to Córdoba CF. In a stroke of a pen the team lost coach Natxo González, striker Borja Valle and centre-back Pablo Mari, the trio was sent off at the end of the meeting at El Nuevo Arcángel.

On Wednesday the competition committee informed that Mari has been suspended for one game, Borja Valle for four matches and Natxo for two. For now, the club is only appealing in the case of Mari, but it will hardly be lifted.

The cost of the last game is bigger as Michael Krohn-Dehli had to be replaced in the second half, the scans made to the Danish midfielder detected a grade I muscle injury on his left thigh. He is missing the game and is doubtful for the next visit to UD Las Palmas.

The total of casualties for the game is raised to five as Fede Cartabia and Sebastián Dubarbier remain sidelined. The playmaker is following the schedule and is already working on the pitch after picking a thigh injury during the game at Gimnástic Tarragona (September 30).  He should be back in November. About the left-back, Natxo said last week that he is going slower of what the doctors expected and that he will need three more weeks before joining the group.

AT CF Reus, the Catalan team faced big problems at the start of the league due to the salary cap rule, in the end they only have 16 players inscribed at the first team and coach Xavi Bartolo has been forced to use B team players in order to fill up the gaps.

For the game against there are three casualties as centre-back Mikel Villanueva (knee) plus wingers Ricardo Vaz and David Querol (both muscle) are out injured. This means only 13 men from the first squad will be available for the game at the Riazor. Despite the problems, the Catalans have managed to stay out of the relegation zone. The latest 2-1 win over Rao Majadahonda keep them three points above the pit.
