REACTIONS TO THE VICTORY AT HOME

29 Oct 2018
Second coach Tapia was happy as Depor extended their home streak, the goal-scorers were explaining their goals, while Reus’ coach was feeling sad as his team wasn’t able to score within the last minutes.

Bernardo Tapia talked to the media after the game, the second coach of Depor explained why the win is so important, “It’s a victory that brings satisfaction and an important joy, especially because it increases the streak at home, and that means to be a strong team at home, which was one of the goals that was established. Only Málaga, and under those circumstances, were able to add a point here.”

He was giving his view on the match, “We were plugged since the start. We scored the goal vey early, and within the first twenty minutes we didn’t allow them to go out with tranquility, and since then the rival also plays. We stole the ball at their side and they also had chances. If you have to write a script it would be this: to score an early goal and later find the second early in the second part.”

Asked about the good game of Pedro López, he said that, “Surely it will be good for him. In a team with this level it’s important to see everyone feeling important, at any moment a player that wasn’t picked on the previous week could end up playing at this level. We knew they play with three centre-backs and we worked to have him at the head of the diamond figure, the idea was that Olmo would have the doubt if he should go out in order to mark him or not.”

The coach also explained what happened to Somma, who was replaced with a muscle problem, “At the beginning it was the result of the lack of games. I believe it was that. We knew he is a player of a great level, we have four centre-backs that are really good. He isn’t playing, but can keep playing. He was at a high level, as anyone at this team.”

Asked why Caballo played before Saúl, Natxo’s second in command explained that, “This team is so competitive that any player is able to play. The interesting thing is to have everyone alive. We have a long league, 42 matchdays and also because the daily work is also important. Any player can go in after not been picked out. Saul made great games before, but it doesn’t mean that Caballo cannot go out.”

Finally, Tapia explained why Depor lowered the intensity within the last ten minutes, “It was a product of many things, you see you are leading, you want the game to end as you are winning and want to extend the rally at home and sometimes you miss intensity, because the game is almost over. You give importance to the fact of clinching a clean sheet and retreat, and it could reduce the intensity at the moment of defending.”

Pedro Sánchez scored a goal and was happy for returning into the starting formation, “Truly for the circumstances I spent a while without playing. I respect the decisions, and I was able to help the team in order to win the game.  I was coming after not playing too much and I needed to give everything in order to bring the three points.”

The playmaker was also explaining how he scored the goal, his first on the season, “I thought the centre-back was going to arrive, I don’t know what happened there and I had to hit hard the ball.”

Carlos Fernández also scored in the game and also explained the play, “It was a great combination, casually we tested it during the week. It’s a reward for been making these automatisms for a long time. We must enjoy it and celebrate, as long as it helps to win the game”

The Andalusian striker dedicated the goal to the fans, “They had some chances in the second half and could have entered into the game. We must be focused in the game and the important thin is to win in front of the fans. The victory is dedicated to them, because they are fundamental piece for us.”

At FC Reus, coach Xavi Bartolo was feeling sorry, because his team was unable to score, “It’s hard to explain how we are leaving the Riazor without scoring. The start was very negative, it conditions for been facing a rival like this. Deportivo were very superior in the first half, they are above us in an individual level, and if you ad that early goal… we were losing every individual duel. We arrived alive to the second half and then it came the second goal, in offside, and we tried to change the plan with three changes at the same time. It could have been the change of system, or the fact that Depor started to defend, but we had five clear chances that aren’t easy to have playing away from home and against a rival like Depor.”
