Domingos Duarte is one of the four players at Depor that have performed in all the games of the season, he is also the third player in the league with more attempts to pass the ball.

Deportivo have found a new boss at defence and is Domingos Duarte. The Portuguese arrived during the summer and quickly earned a spot at the centre of the defence, to the point that he has played in all the 12 liga games played so far, only him, Dani Giménez, David Simón and Álex Bergantiños have had minutes in all the matches.

The 23-year-old player has brought solidity to a defensive line that was carrying doubts in recent seasons, but most importantly he is the one responsible for the he output of the ball, so it shouldn’t be strange to see him at midfield, sometimes even in a more advance position than Álex.

Actually, the Portuguese defender is the player with more clearances at the team (51) and the third in la liga with more attempts to pass the ball: 635 (Mallorca’s Salva Sevilla lead this department with 662 followed by Reus’ Cantena with 643).

To round up his great performance n this start of season, he is also solid in set-pieces and already scored twice, including last Saturday’s equalizer at UD Las Palmas, a goal that earned a valuable point for Deportivo.

On Tuesday, Domingos was talking with reporters about his adaptation to the league, “This is a very competitive league. When I came I knew what to expect. You can see good football in this league no matter is a second-tier. You need to play good football in order to stay up there, just like we are right now.” He also denied the idea that he is the leader of the team, “I came here in order to help the team and nothing more. We all have a role at the team, let’s see if I can fulfil my duties and improve each day.”
