New attempt of Depor in order to enter into the first two places, but it visits a dangerous rival that’s improving. Christian Santos is a starter as Carlos Fernández is in international action.

Referee: Rubén Ávalos Barrera
Kick-off: 21h00 CET (Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos)

Deportivo have chained 8 games without losing, the best streak at this point in Segunda. The Galicians are the second most in-form team in the league with 12 points added within the last 6 matchdays, mark only below AD Alcorcón (13). Besides. Los Blanquiazules are the 4th best visiting team at Liga 1|2|3 with 10 points added after 7 visits, mark only below AD Alcorcón (11), Granada CF (11) and Albacete Balompié (11).

Meanwhile, UD Almeria are growing in the league thanks to their home performance. By matchday 04 the Andalusians were in relegation, but since then they chained a rally of four straight home victories, including a 3-0 over UD Las Palmas, and now they are only four points below the promotion zone.

This is the seventh visit to UD Almeria playing for a league competition and Depor were only able to win once at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos, it was a 0-1 for the campaign 2008/09 thanks to a goal scored by Joan Verdú. Since then the Galicians have played four games there only getting three draws and ending scoreless in the last two.

The numbers of Deportivo are good in a general sense, but the speech coming from inside the team is that it needs to improve the impression left playing on the road. The only defeat in the league came playing away from the Riazor, and at times the team left the impression of been at the mercy of the rivals.

Now the next away games are against teams at mid-table, rivals that are dangerous when they play at home; Pablo Mari was talking of the situation during the week. “We must show the same idea both at home or away. It won’t be easy away from home, because the rivals play in front of the fans and it means a plus. It could be bravery or that they want to show things in front of the fans. These are issues playing against you, and we need a clear idea with our football and hope, always knowing what we must do.”

Team news: Pedro Sánchez didn’t receive the medical okay and remains at the injury room together with Sebastian Dubarbier. Borja Valle fulfills his last game of suspension, while Carlos Fernández is concentrated with U-21 Spain. Gerard Valentín is the only player out for tactical reasons.

Man to watch: Striker Christian Santos. The spotlight has been on Quique González and Carlos Fernández, now the latter is out in international action, while Borja Valle is suspended. So, the Venezuelan attacker is going to start and wants to demonstrate things, like the goal he scored against Athletic Club for the Teresa Herrera.

Picked players: (19) Dani Giménez, Adrián Ortolá (goalkeepers); David Simón, Eneko Bóveda, Domingos Duarte, Michele Somma, Pablo Mari, Saúl García, Diego Caballo (defenders); Edu Expósito, Álex Bergantiños, Pedro Mosquera, Michael Krohn-Dehli, Vicente Gómez, Fede Cartabia, Didier Moreno, Carles Gil (midfielders); Quique González & Christian Santos (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-3-1-2) Dani Giménez – David Simón, Pablo Mari, Domingos Duarte, Caballo – Álex Bergantiños, Vicente Gómez, Edu Expósito – Carles Gil – Quique González, Christian Santos.

Deportivo are meeting another team that feels more comfortable without having the ball. Coach Fran Fernández lasted in finding the key for a team that wasn’t aspiring to the promotion (only the 11th best salary cap in the league), but that lives close to the dream of Primera after clinching four straight wins at home.

With or without the ball the fans are happy, because the team was reinforced during the summer with players coming from Segunda B and Tercera and the season was understood as a new transition period in a club that’s stuck in the second tier.

Team news: Centre-midfielder Yan Eteki is suspended. The other four players out are men with long-term injuries: playmaker Gaspar Panadero, right-back Fran Rodríguez (both knee ligaments), plus left-backs Samu de los Reyes and Nano (both ankle fracture).

Man to watch: Playmaker Juan Carlos Real. The ex-Depor man has a found a spot in Segunda, after a solid season with CD Tenerife scoring five goals, he now landed at UD Almeria and is a fixed piece for coach Fran Fernández. The 27-year-old man is one of the three players that have taken part of the thirteen matchdays in the league and he already scored twice.

Picked players: Roster to be released on Monday.

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Rene Román – Romera, Owona, Saveljich, Andoni – De La Hoz, Arzura – Narváez, Juan Carlos, Rioja – Álvaro Giménez.
