The teams fighting for the promotion spots are adding points with a record speed, Alcorcón and Depor are the leaders, while Elche is back into the drop zone.

Impressive run by the teams at the promotion zone, the first six places accumulate 171 points after 15 matchdays; it’s the second-best mark on this century after the campaign 2012/13 (174). At the time the leaders were Elche CF with 35 points.

Now, AD Alcorcón is the leader with only two points less, this after adding a fourth straight victory hosting Real Zaragoza (2-0). Deportivo is among the first two places for the first time on the season, in this opportunity they dispatched CA Osasuna at the Riazor (2-0).

Granada CF felt from the top after a surprising 1-2 defeat hosting Sporting Gijón. Neither Málaga CF had a positive weekend, the Andalusians lost visiting Rayo Majadahonda (1-0). Albacete Balompié defeated Elche CF (0-1) and remain fifth.

RCD Mallorca is back into the promotion zone after a suffered 1-0 win over CD Numancia. UD Las Palmas felt from the first six places after been trashed by Cádiz CF (4-1). The Canarians have spent five games without wins; it’s the opposite for the Andalusians, side that now has one more point and that chains five straight wins.

The defeat of Elche CF put them back into the relegation zone, this after CD Tenerife managed to defeat Rayo Majadahonda (2-1). Gimnástic Tarragona remain as the bottom club despite a 2-2 draw hosting UD Almeria. CF Reus remain in the pit after a 3-0 loss visiting Real Oviedo. CD Lugo returned to winning ways after only adding one of the previous twelve points, the Galicians defeated Córdoba CF (2-1) and are one point above relegation.

Four of the first six places are colliding against themselves. Leaders AD Alcorcón visit fifth place Albacete Balompié, third place Málaga CF host fourth spot Granada CF. Meanwhile, runners-up Deportivo visit Rayo Majadahonda, while sixth place RCD Mallorca visit relegation-troubled CF Reus.
