A negative first round is pushing Fabril into Tercera División. The team is adding more with Pellicer, but it’s also conceding more goals. The signings have failed and th coach had to push lads from Laracha and Juvenil A.

Things are looking nasty for Fabril at Segunda B. After ending the first round, the lads have only added 14 points after 3 victories and 5 draws, only enough to be penultimate at the standings and already 8 points behind safety. The last time the team suffered a relegation from Segunda B (season 2010/11), the team had better numbers after ending the first round: 4 victories and 7 draws.

Fabril had a really poor start and it cost the job to Tito Ramallo, who only added 4 points in 9 meetings. Sergio Pellicer arrived later and improve the numbers adding 10 points in the next 10 games, but it hasn’t been enough to pull the team out of the pit.

The main problem of the team is the inconsistency during the matches, in large frames of the meetings the team practices a dull game, incapable of creating scoring chances and fragile in defence; actually Fabril is the second worst defence in the league after allowing 29 goals.

The soft defence is the main worry at this point, because the team could b adding more points with Pellicer, but it’s also conceding more goals. With Ramallo in, the team never lost a game by a margin of two or more goals and it only allowed three goals in the same match facing Union Adarve (2-3). Meanwhile, after Pellicer’s arrival, the team suffered the biggest lost on the season (3-0 at Atlético Madrid B) and allowed at least two goals in 5 of the 10 games with the new coach.

This inconsistency is also evident even when the team does enough things to claim the advantage in the score only to waste it later. It happened against Pontevedra CF (November 11), match in which the team had a comfortable 0-2 lead at half-time only to concede twice in the second part; or against Cultural Leonesa (December 16), an acceptable match until conceding twice within the last 15 minutes to end losing 1-2

Winger Víctor García is the Pichichi at the team (4 goals) and also the only player that has taken part of all the 19 games in the first round, he is also the lad with more minutes (1,647). Striker Uxío Dapena and centre-back Quique Fornos have only skipped a game. Playmaker Jonathan Montiel missed two games and is the best assistor so far (5).

Combined, Parralo and Pellicer used 26 lads so far. A big problem to notice is how the new signings haven’t added the expected quality to the team. French Salles-Lamonge has only played 6 times, while Javi Cobo and Diego Villarres turned to be disappointments. The best singings so far have been Victor García and Montiel, due that’s the heart of the attack.

The situation moved Pellicer to pull lads from Laracha CF and Juvenil B in order to search for solutions. Thus the poor form of both side defenders, Lucas Viña and Blas Alonso, pulled the coach to use Jorge Valín as side defender in the last two games of the first round, against Navalcarnero he played at the left and in the last game with Valladolid B he performed on the right.

In this last frame of the first round Pellicer has also used other two lads from the academy: Iago Novo and Iago Gandoy. Novo performs for Laracha CF at Tercera and has been pulled to the second team as the coach searches for powder in attack. In the case of Gandoy, he only played as starter in three games with Ramallo, and since the arrival of Pellicer he turned to be a fixed starter at midfield.

It neither has helped the situation with winger Bicho and centre-back Mujaid Sadick. Bicho has spent injured the whole first round and hasn’t played yet, while Mujaid was the sensation with Seedorf on last season as he even debuted as a starter at Primera División (the second lad born in the new century to do so), and on this season his lack of discipline has forced a punishment and he is playing with Juvenil A. He has only played 7 times on the season with Fabril, and only once after the arrival of Pellicer and only because there were injuries and suspensions affecting the squad (In November at Atlético B, 0-3).
