Depor close the first round making a long trip and only with the casualty of Pedro Sánchez. The rival is living close to the promotion zone, but lost three of its last four games.

Deportivo are surrounded by doubts after the recent draw at the Riazor, the Galicians remain living inside the promotion zone, but wasting opportunities in order to grab the first two places. Now they close the first round visiting RCD Mallorca (Son Moix, Saturday, 20h30 CET).

But the doubts aren’t affecting the day by day life inside the team. Coach Natxo González has a large squad to pick from. Only Pedro Sánchez is out of the game, the playmaker remains training apart after starting the year with an overload on the gastrocnemius muscle of his right leg.

The week is also unusual for the schedule, since the trip to Majorca is one of the largest of the season, the club decided to make the trip since Friday’s morning, so the last training session before the game will take place in Mallorca’s sporting city, while there was a double session on Wednesday.

The early trip also made possible to release the roster since Thursday. The big surprise was that Carles Gil was left out of the meeting, while Christian Santos was picked to fill the spot in a list of 25 players:

Goalkeepers: Dani Giménez & Adrián Ortolá
Defenders: David Simón, Eneko Bóveda, Domingos Duarte, Pablo Mari, Michelle Somma, Diego Caballo & Saúl García
Midfielders: Edu Expósito, Pedro Mosquera, Vicente Gómez, Álex Bergantiños, Krohn-Dehli, Didier Moreno & Fede Cartabia
Strikers: Quique González, Christian Santos, Carlos Fernández & Borja Valle.

At RCD Mallorca, there’s concern among the fans and the media as the team has lost three of the last four games. The fact of been only four points away from the promotion spots invites to optimism, but many are already asking if the promotion should be a goal for the season or if the players should feel content only with the salvation.

For the game against Deportivo, coach Vicente Moreno is only having the casualty of left-back Salva Ruiz, who has been out since October due to a hamstring injury. Centre-back Franco Russo skipped the last game against UD Almeria due to a knock, but has options of been available for Saturday.
