Important game at the start of the second round, Carlos Fernández could be available if he passes a late test on Saturday. Pedro Sánchez and Krohn-Dehli are out injured.

It has been a week of analysis, after the poor results of the previous matchdays, coach Natxo González has spent a lot of time with the players watching videos, on Thursday they even spent 75 minutes on the video room before jumping into the training pitch, all o this because the coach is planning to switch the draw (from a 4-3-1-2 into a 4-3-3) ahead of the meeting with Albacete Balompié (Riazor, Sunday, 18h00 CET).

Natxo is preparing the game having mixed news about the health of his players. Striker Carlos Fernández was a last-minute casualty before the game at RCD Mallorca. The scans detected a grade I muscle injury on his right thigh and it was speculated that he was going to be out for a couple of weeks.

But on Friday he completed the full training session alongside the group and has options to be picked for the game. Another striker at the team, Christian Santos, had muscle issues and missed the first trainings on the week, but he joined the group on Thursday. Both men will be assessed on Saturday before releasing the roster for the game.

The bad news come with Pedro Sánchez and Michael Krohn-Dehli. Sánchez has been working apart for a couple of weeks, and the latest scans detected further damage in a muscle of his left leg. He will continue working apart and is, at least, missing Sunday’s game with Albacete and probably the visit to Sporting Gijón. In the case of Krohn-Dehli, he suffered a muscle problem (Gastrocnemius muscle) an will undergo scans later.

Also, to point out that the team is now composed by 23 players, this after Gerard Valentín was sent on loan to CD Lugo. On Tuesday, the right-back trained for the last time with the team and no more transfer novelties are expected before Sunday’s game at the Riazor.

Albacete Balompié arrive to the meeting after spending 12 matches without losing, a long run that has allowed them to be second at the standings. So, this is an exam to see if they can extend their rally, and their dream of a direct promotion, playing in a stadium where they never won before.

Coach Luis Miguel Ramis only has the casualty of centre-back Nico Gorosito, who is recovering from a toe surgery. But there are doubtful players too; striker Roman Zozulia plus midfielders Eugeni Valderrama and Jon Erice haven’t trained at the top during the week due to knocks.

Despite their good moment, Los Manchegos are planning to make operations during the winter window. Midfielder Jean Jules has been loaned to UCAM Murcia, while keeper José Antonio Caro and midfielder Paulo Vitor are at the door out.  And on Thursday they announced the signing of midfielder Álvaro Peña, who didn’t have too many opportunities with AD Alcorcón on this season.
