Saúl is out of the trip to Gijón after picking an injury during the week. Natxo could be repeating the 4-3-3 scheme facing a team in an ascending lane.

The confidence has returned to A Coruña after the recent victory at the Riazor, but the ghost of the away games remains and now Deportivo face one of the toughest visits of the season: Sporting Gijón at El Molinón (Sunday, 18h00 CET).

The big news on the weeks was that Saúl García suffered a hamstring knock during Wednesday’s session. The scans revealed a grade I injury on the muscle of his right leg, therefore the left-back is out of the game. The other players that won’t arrive in time for the game are playmaker Pedro Sánchez and midfielder Krohn-Dehli (both muscle).

A fourth casualty for the game should be Carles Gil, the playmaker still trying to leave the club, and coach Natxo González has said that he won’t pick anyone that isn’t focused in the team. Therefore, the coach is having nineteen players available for the trip.

Natxo is also keen to keep the 4-3-3 draw used against Albacete Balompié, he has tested this scheme during the training sessions with the novelty of seeing Christian Santos taking the place of Quique González in attack.

Sporting Gijón arrive to the meeting in an ascending lane after the signing of coach José Alberto López, With him on board, the team has only lost one of the last eight games in the competition (1-2 Vs. Rea Zaragoza). Now, Los Maños are five points under the promotion zone.

For the game, López is missing three players for injury reasons: midfielders Álex Pérez (hamstring) and Pablo Pérez (adductor muscle) plus centre-back Isma Cerro (muscle). Galician centre-back Juan Rodríguez has been out of the trainings on this week due to flu, but he should be available for Sunday.
