MATCHDAY 24: THE BATTLE AT THE TOP CONTINUES

Two points separate the first five places. No changes at the bottom, though Rayo Majadahonda got a big victory.
The first five places are starting to open a gap with the rest. At the same time the battle for the top two places is intense as these five clubs are only separated by two points. Leaders Granada CF suffered the fourth defeat on the season as they lost visiting direct rival CA Osasuna (1-0).
Los Rojiblancos remain as the leaders as both Málaga CF and Deportivo were unable to win. Málaga CF suffered a late goal and dropped two points hosting UD Almeria (1-1), while Depor had a grey game welcoming CD Tenerife (0-0). Albacete Balompié is the fifth team in the fight as they chained a second straight win, this time coming from behind visiting Córdoba CF (1-3).
The five top-teams could be separated by only two points, but the teams coming after are starting to lose some them. RCD Mallorca are now only one point below the promotion zone, precisely they defeated the sixth place in this matchday: 2-0 Vs. AD Alcorcón. The Madrilenians still falling as they have only added seven of the last eighteen points in dispute (the fourth worst mark in the period).
A team in a similar crisis is Cádiz CF, the Andalusians lost visiting Real Oviedo (2-1) and are now three points below the promotion zone. They have only added six points within the last six matchdays. Meanwhile, Real Oviedo are now eighth, only two points below the sixth place.

Rayo Majadahonda gave a big step forward as they beat last place Gimnástic Tarragona (1-0), the Madrilenians are now four points above the pit. Another winner in the fight for survival was CD Numancia, side that trashed CD Lugo at home (3-0)
Meanwhile, Extremadura UD remain at the drop zone after a huge defeat at home facing Sporting Gijón (0-3). The matchday was closed with a 1-1 draw between UD Las Palmas and Real Zaragoza, both teams remain in nowhere’s land.

MATCHDAY 25: BIG GAMES FOR THE LEADERS
Leaders Granada CF host Deportivo in a crucial game for direct promotion. But there are more top games in the league, Albacete Balompié entertain RCD Mallorca CA, Osasuna face a tricky visit to Sporting Gijón, while AD Alcorcón are hosting Cádiz CF, two out of form teams that need to regain their previous status if they want to continue in the fight. Meanwhile, Málaga CF host UD Las Palmas.
Gimnástic Tarragona is resting during the weekend and other five games are completing the matchday: Elche CF Vs. Real Oviedo; Extremadura CF Vs. Rayo Majadahonda; CD Tenerife Vs. Córdoba CF; CD Lugo Vs. Real Zaragoza & UD Almeria Vs. CD Numancia.
