Big game at the top of the standings; Depor recover several players and targets the consistency that could lead them to direct promotion. The rival is in the middle of a fight to control the direction of the club.

Referee: Aitor Gorostegui Fernández Ortega
Kick-off: 18h00 CET (La Rosaleda)

Recently, Deportivo have had problems facing teams at the bottom of the standings, but the picture is entirely different playing against the top teams. And it’s that the Galicians are undefeated against the other five teams that are currently in promotion. In the seven games played against those teams Los Blanquiazules clinched five wins and three draws and already won the possible tie-breakers with Granada CF and Albacete Balompié.

This game represents the meeting between the best defence in the league against the best offense. The Andalusians have only allowed 18 goals so far (best mark at Segunda tied with Granada CF) and have only conceded twice within the last six games. Meanwhile, the Galicians have scored 37 goals, which is the best mark in the second-tier.

Málaga CF already lost twice at home on this season (0-1 Vs. Granada CF and 0-3 Vs. FC Reus), but they don’t lose against Depor at La Rosaleda since the campaign 2002/03 (0-2), since then Depor have visited the city in 10 opportunities playing in a league competition adding seven draws and suffering three defeats.

Deportivo is one of the two teams in the league that have only lost three games (the other is Albacete Balompié) and is constantly mention as one of the favourites to clinch the direct promotion, but the fact is that the Galician have barely spent a couple of matchdays among the first two places. And what happens is that the team has only clinched back-to-back wins in two opportunities.

Now it is facing a tough part of the calendar visiting direct or tough rivals at their stadiums, it already defeated Sporting Gijón and Granada CF, now it visits Málaga CF, dreaming of a new blow against another candidate. But also knowing that it needs consistency in order to reach the main goal of direct promotion.

Team news: Pedro Mosquera, Carlos Fernández and Vicente Gómez were all cleared to play and were included in the roster for the game. Therefore, the only player at the injury room is Krohn-Dehli, while Nahuel and Didier Moreno are suspended. Iñigo López and Sebastian Dubarbier are out for tactical reasons.

Man to watch: Playmaker Fede Cartabia. The best defence in the league needs a creative player in order to be open, and the Argentine is the most creative player at the team. His physical problems have affected him throughout the season, but he has played in the last nine games of Depor in the league.

Picked players: (19) Dani Giménez, Adrián Ortolá (goalkeepers); Eneko Bóveda, David Simón, Domingos Duarte, Pablo Mari, Michele Somma, Diego Caballo, Saúl García (defenders); Edu Expósito, Álex Bergantiños, Pedro Mosquera, Vicente Gómez, Fede Cartabia, Pedro Sánchez (midfielders); Carlos Fernández, Quique González, Christian Santos & Borja Valle (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Dani Giménez – David Simón, Domingos Duarte, Pablo Mari, Caballo – Álex Bergantiños, Vicente Gómez – Cartabia, Edu Expósito, Borja Valle - Quique González.
Big game at the top of the standings as the winner will not only have an advantage at the top of the standings, but also the advantage in a possible tie-breaker. But there’s an inopportune situation occurring at this point at Málaga: the fight for the ownership of the club. It’s a battle that has lasted four years between owner Abdullah Al-Thani and hotel company Bluebay.

Bluebay had the right control the club in the past, but that deal was broken by Al-Thani and now both sides are fighting for the 49% of the club’s shares. The first hearing took place this week and the verdict is uncertain as it will depend on the interpretations of the witnesses. It all coincides with the big moment of a team that needs the promotion in order to avoid a financial breakdown at the end of the season.

Team news: Midfielder Badr Boulahroud returned during the week, but wasn’t included in the roster. Left-backs Juankar (knee) and Miguel TorresHugo Vallejo (muscle stress), and Mamadou Koné and centre midfielder Mehdi Lacen (muscle) are out injured.

Man to watch: Centre midfielder Adrián González. The captain of the team is the man on vogue in Malaga, he renewed his contract this week and is living a great moment as he has scored 4 goals in his last 6 appearances. He is now the top-scorer at the team tied with Gustavo Leschuk. The son of Michel González is about to tie the best scoring mark in his career (7 goals in 28 games with SD Eibar on the Primera campaign 2016/17).

Picked players: (19) Munir Mohamedi, Paweł Kieszek (goalkeepers); Diego González, Luis Hernández, Pau Torres,  Miguel Ángel Cifuentes, Federico Ricca, Iván Rodríguez (defenders); Adrián González, Iván Alejo, Erik Morán, Alfred N'Diaye, Alex Mula, Keidi Bare (midfielders); Blanco Leschuk, Renato Santos, Yevhen Seleznyov, Dani Pacheco & Jack Harper (attackers)

Predicted lineup: (4-1-4-1) Munir – Iván Rodriguez, Diego González, Pau Torres, Ricca – Erik Morán – Iván Alejo, Adrián González, N´Diaye, Keid Bare – Blanco Leschuk.
