Deportivo return into competition trying to end a negative run at home, the coach has to make changes due to the suspensions. The rival is the best defence in 2019 and wants to clinch the permanence before thinking of promotion.

Referee: Daniel Jesús Trujillo Suárez
Kick-off: 21h00 CET (Riazor)

Since 2019 started, UD Almeria have only conceded 5 goal in 11 meetings, it’s the best record in the league tied with Granada CF. And Deportivo aren’t too far from the mark as the Galicians are third in that list only conceding 6 goals in 11 matches.

Deportivo are coming from losing their first home game on the season, while the most recent visit of UD Almeria was a 1-0 lost at Sporting Gijón, result that cut a streak of five straight visits without losing. The Andalusians are the ninth best visiting team at Segunda with 17 points added in 15 away meetings.

This is the 7th visit of UD Almeria to the Riazor. Los Rojiblancos have won three times in A Coruña, including the most recent one: 0-1 in the Primera season 2014/15. The last home victory of Depor against this rival was on the Segunda campaign 2011/12 (3-1).

The suspensions of Edu Expósito and Diego Caballo are forcing coach Natxo González to make new changes in a lineup that’s now used to modifications as the results weren’t arriving. The coach will also opt in a 4-2-3-1 formation and, according to what was sawn in the last training at the Riazor, the replacements are men that haven’t had minutes in recent meetings.

The left side should be covered by Saúl García, who wasn’t even on the bench for the past two games, while Didier Moreno should be the one stepping at midfield. The Colombian has only played four matches in 2019 and his last appearance was in February: 1-1 Vs. Gimnástic Tarragona) (February 16). Christian Santos is also expected to start in attack as Quique González didn’t train properly during the week.

Team news: Michael Krohn-Dehli and Carlos Fernández are the players at the injury room. Quique González and Nahuel Levia are recovered from their knocks, but it will be until Friday that the coaching staff will release the roster for the game. Edu Expósito and Diego Caballo are suspended.

Man to watch: Striker Christian Santos. The Venezuelan attacker is having a new chance due to the physical problems of Quique González. His last appearance as a starter was against CD Tenerife (February 2) and will face the tough challenge of trying to score against the team that has allowed lesser goals in 2019.

Picked players: Roster to be released on Friday.

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Dani Giménez – David Simón, Domingos Duarte, Pablo Mari, Saúl – Didier Moreno, Vicente Gómez – Cartabia, Pedro Sánchez, Borja Valle – Christian Santos.
It has been a positive season for UD Almeria, a club with a mid-level salary cap (€6.98 million) that still have options for the promotion. At this point only other three clubs are higher at the standings having a lower salary cap: RCD Mallorca (€6.92 million), Albacete Balompié (€6.64 million) and AD Alcorcón (€5.09 million).

But the mind is only focused in the permanence right now, coach Fran Fernández stated before the game that they are only thinking of reaching the 47 points and the permanence, and that later, if there are options, they will seriously think of the chance to take part of the playoff. The good thing is that the team is good shape, in the 11 games played in 2019 the Andalusians added 19 points, which is the fifth best mark in the league.

Team news: Centre-back Juan Fernández ‘Ibiza’ was returning from a suspension and was expected to start, but a muscle problem picked in the last training is pulling him out of the match at the Riazor. Striker Ermedin Demirović is the other casualty for the game as he is concentrated with U-21 Bosnia-Herzegovina ahead of the U-21 Euro qualifiers.

Man to watch: Playmaker Juan Carlos Real. The ex-Depor continues evolving in Almeria, now acting more as a second striker. He returns to the Riazor been the second-best scorer at the team (8 goals), 6 of the last 14 goals netted by the Andalusians were pushed in by the ex-Fabril.

Picked players: (18) René Hinojo, Fernando Martínez (goalkeepers); José Romera, Lucien Owona, Ángel Trujillo, Estebán Saveljich, Andoni López, Iván Martos (defenders); César de la Hoz, David Rocha, Yan Eteki, José Maria Núñez ‘Chema’, Juan Carlos Real, Juanjo Narváez, Luis Rioja, José Corpas (midfielders); Pablo Caballero & Álvaro Giménez (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-4-2) René - Romera, Saveljich, Owona Martos - Eteki, De La Hoz, Corpas, Luis Rioja - Juan Carlos, Álvaro Giménez.
