Depor lost to straight games for the first time on the season, there was a new attitude, but it only lasted 45 minutes. Quique González is now the top-scorer at Segunda.

The seven notes from the defeat at CA Osasuna:

1- New attitude, same outcome: Deportivo showed a new brilliance in the first part, a hunger not seen in a while in a team that should be a candidate to promotion, but a couple of distractions put the game uphill, and in the second part Deportivo showed the same face of recent games: the one of an impotent team unable to revert a negative situation.

2- The same problem: creating opportunities: It was a novelty to see Deportivo connecting three shots within the first ten minutes, but it was only a mirage, later the team showed again its main problem: a team unable to capitalize the ball possession through shots on target. And it’s that, in the second part, Depor only had two opportunities, the play of Quique González and Christian Santos at the start, and the header of Borja Valle after the cross from Pedro Sánchez. The rest was only possession, presence on the sides without accurate crosses and set-pieces without aim.

Too little for a team that needs the points in order to save a season that’s turning to be black. Edu Expósito was lost attached to the wing, while Pedro Sánchez barely did anything, and without Carlos Fernández, the team lacked spark in attack.

3- Defensive problems: One of the novelties with Martí is that he ordered to play with an advanced defence, but the new coach didn’t realize of the por form of the centre-backs, and the team paid the price for it with the goal of the equalizer, because  it’s hard to explain how a long clearance from Osasuna’s defence surprised everyone allowing an attacker to face the keeper one-on-one.

4- The changes aren’t working: If something hasn’t changed at Deportivo are the poor contribution of the modifications, neither Nahuel nor Borja Valle brought a change of pace, actually they just made things worse. Nahuel is totally off and was dribbling himself in each individual play, while Valle barely made a pass. Later the entry of Didier Moreno was made in order to refresh a team that was already defeated.

5- Quique González scores again: Quique González has scored the last four goals of Deportivo in la liga, he now reaches the mark of 15 and is the top-scorer in the league together with Enrich Gallego, who changed Extremadura UD for Primera División in the winter market. The last player that scored 15 or more goal in a single season with Depor was Lucas Pérez (17, 2015/16).

6- Back-to-back defeats for Depor: For the first time on the season, Depor have lost two straight games, the Galician have now spent four games without adding the three points, eight games without counting the game with FC Reus. The last victory on a football field was the 0-1 at Granada CF (February 10).

7- The debut of Martí in numbers: José Luis Martí is the coach number 66 that works with Depor at Primera or Segunda. He is the ninth coach with Tino Fernández, and curiously none of the previous eight coaches debuted with a victory. Cristóbal Parralo debuted in liga with a 1-3 win in liga (October 30, 2017), but four days before he lost with the same rival playing in Copa Del Rey (1-4).
