The six clubs at the top won and already have a small advantage in this last stretch of season. There was also drama at the bottom with CD Lugo entering the relegation zone.

The battle for the second position continued and the clubs trying to enter into the playoff made a little and at the same time important step forward, because the distance between the sixth and the seventh place is now of four points. It’s short, but it cannot be despised with only seven matchdays remaining.

Leaders CA Osasuna suffered, but added a new victory in their visit to Elche CF (1-2). Los Rojillos have a six-point advantage at the top and could be celebrating the promotion in May.  Meanwhile, the battle for the second position remains on. Albacete Balompié defeated UD Las Palmas in a crazy game that had three goals within the first ten minutes (4-2), while Granada CF overcame CD Lugo on the road (1-2).

Cádiz CF remain fourth as a late goal from Machís rescued the victory against CD Numancia (2-1). RCD Mallorca didn’t have too many problems as they beat Rayo Majadahonda (2-0), then Víctor Sánchez Del Amo had a big debut with Málaga CF as the Andalusians demolished AD Alcorcón at Santo Domingo (1-4).

If the first six places won their games, then the chasers failed. Deportivo continued with its drama and lost again, this time hosting Extremadura UD (1-2), then Sporting Gijón didn’t pass from the goalless draw visiting Gimnástic Tarragona, while Real Oviedo wasted two advantages, including a 2-0 at minute 9, to end drawing with Córdoba CF (3-3).

The result cost the job to Juan Antonio Anquela, the first of two coaches fired this weekend. The new boss for the Asturian club will be Sergio Egea. Finally, UD Almeria re-entered the race for the playoff with a 1-3 win at CD Tenerife.
