The first confirmed relegation –after FC Reus- is Córdoba CF. CA Osasuna will have to wait one more week to celebrate the promotion. Depor are again out of the playoff zone.

The time for definitions has arrived, on the last matchday there were several things at stake, but the only confirmation was the demotion of Córdoba CF. CA Osasuna didn’t play as it was their turn to face FC Reus and couldn’t celebrate the promotion as Granada CF and Albacete Balompié won their games.

Granada CF dispatched CD Tenerife at home (2-1), while Albacete suffered a little more visiting Rayo Majadahonda. Los Albinegros had a 0-3 lead by minute 30, but the Madrilenians pulled two goals and harassed within the last half an hour (2-3).

The big loser on the matchday was Deportivo. The Galicians were leading Cádiz CF, but a late goal cost two points at the Riazor (1-1). Málaga CF took advantage and regained the place in the playoff zone thanks to a 32-0 win over Real Oviedo.

RCD Mallorca lost a good chance to start securing the playoff spot after unexpectedly losing at Gimnástic Tarragona (2-1). Meanwhile Sporting Gijón reduced its chances of reaching the playoff after a goalless draw hosting CD Lugo. They are now tied in points with UD Almeria, side that starred the crazy game of the matchday, a 5-3 win over Elche CF with a hat-trick of Alvaro Giménez, who is now the top-scorer in the league.

The situation at the top of the standings:

1 Osasuna 77 53 33
2 Granada 71 47 25
3 Albacete 68 51 32
4 Mallorca 64 51 35
5 Málaga 62 41 29
6 Cádiz 62 52 33
7 Deportivo 61 47 31
8 Oviedo 57 42 41

The relegation of Córdoba CF is now mathematical after the 1-0 defeat at UD Las Palmas. Now there are only two relegation spots to be defined in the coming weeks. Gimnástic saved a matchball with their win over RCD Mallorca, but still they could be demoted on this weekend.

The big winner of the matchday is CD Lugo, because their draw in Gijón allows them to leave the drop zone. Now Rayo Majadahonda is in relegation, while the defeat of CD Tenerife provoked the exit of ex-Depor Oltra. The new coach will be Luis César Sampedro.

The side that seems moving towards salvation is Real Zaragoza; the Aragonians clinched a hug 0-3 win at Extremadura UD. Los Maños cut a streak of four straight wins from the rival and at the same time increased the lead over relegation to six points.

The situation at the bottom of the standings:

place team points GF GA
17 Tenerife 43 37 46
18 Lugo 41 41 50
19 Majadahonda 41 40 54
20 Nástic 31 22 55
21 Córdoba 30 42 71
22 Reus 0 16 44

A new relegation and the first promotion might be defined in this matchday. CA Osasuna will clinch the promotion to Liga BBVA with a victory, but it won’t be easy as they visit a Cádiz CF fighting to keep the spot in the promotion playoff.

Meanwhile, Gimnástic Tarragona will suffer the relegation if they don’t defeat already relegated Córdoba CF on the road, and they also need to see either CD Lugo or Rayo Majadahonda losing. The first face the Galician derby hosting Deportivo, while the Madrilenians visit UD Las Palmas.

Málaga CF will stay in the promotion zone as they rest for been the matchday in which they face FC Reus. And there’s more excitement with Granada CF visiting Albacete Balompié, a real battle for the second spot. The matchday is competed with other five games: Real Zaragoza Vs. Sporting Gijón; AD Alcorcón Vs. Extremadura UD; Elche CF Vs. CD Tenerife; RCD Mallorca Vs. UD Almería & Real Oviedo Vs. CD Numancia.
