THINKING OF CD LUGO

18 May 2019
Álex Bergantiños should be fit to play, so the only casualty will be Krohn-Dehli. The rival is also playing for a lot and is dealing with several casualties for the match.

The tide is changing for Deportivo after adding seven of the last nine points in dispute, but the latest misstep against Cádiz CF have cost the spot in the playoff zone, now Depor travel away from the Riazor in order to regain some space as it visits CD Lugo (Sunday, Anxo Carro, 20h00 CET).

The good news for coach José Luis Martí, aside from the fact that he is found a starter eleven and a system, is that there are no casualties apart from the case of Michael Krohn-Dehli. The Danish midfielder remains out due to an Achilles problem and probably won’t play again on this season.

Right-back David Simón is finally available after surpassing a muscle problem, but Eneko Bóveda will continue at the starting eleven after his great game at the Riazor. There were three starters that ended the game with Cádiz CF with issues: Cartabia, Bóveda and Carlos Fernández.

But the three of them have worked during the week and will probably start again. Another man at the starting eleven with issues is Álex Bergantiños, he picked a knock during the week and his participation in the game will be decided on Saturday, but he should be on the roster after completing the session on Friday.

CD Lugo are having a similar situation to Deportivo in terms that the game is a final for them, with only four games remaining they are out of the drop zone only due to the goal difference rule and cannot lose more points at home (they lost 7 times at the Anxo Carro).

The big difference with Deportivo is that coach Eloy Jiménez is full of casualties for the game. Right-back Gerard Valentín is out after picking the fifth yellow card of the season and also because Depor’s is his parent club.

Then there are four players out injured:  goalkeeper Pablo Cacharrón (knee), right-back Serge Leuko (Achilles) plus centre midfielders Tete Morente (muscle) and Antonio Campillo (knee).

The absences of Gerard Valentín and Serge Leuko will allow to return to the starting eleven of Eduard Campabadal, who surprisingly was benched in the goalless draw against Sporting Gijón after been a starter in 7 of the previous 8 games.
