Depor need the points facing a rival that’s playing for nothing. Top-scorer Quique González is out injured, Borja Valle is going to replace him.

Referee: Rubén Ávalos Barrera
Kick-off: 20h00 CET (Martínez Valero)

Elche CF started the liga campaign with relegation concerns, but things radically changed in 2019 as the Andalusians are the seventh best team in the year with 30 points added in 19 matches, that’s two more points than Deportivo. Los Franjiverdes are also the best scorer in the second round with 29 goals, one more than champions CA Osasuna.

They are also the seventh best local team during the Segunda campaign with 36 points after 20 matches at the Martínez Valero; actually, they have won five of the last six games played there been the only defeat a 1-2 against CA Osasuna.

Meanwhile, Deportivo arrive to the meeting after breaking the curse at the Riazor and been the fourth best visitor in the league. The Galicians added 29 points in 20 away meetings, mark only below Albacete (34), Granada (33) and Málaga (31).

This is the 18th visit of Depor to Elche playing in a league season. Los Blanquiazules only won four times at the Martínez Valero. The last opportunity was a 0-2 on the Segunda campaign 1986/87. The last game played there was a painful 4-0 at Primera with Víctor Sánchez on board.

Depor travel to Alicante needing the three points and without having top-scorer Quique González, the Valladolid-born attacker picked a muscle injury in the home game with RCD Mallorca and could also miss the last game in the regular season. He has netted 6 of the 17 goals scored by the Galicians in the second round.

Coach José Luis Marti will keep playing with a 4-4-2 scheme, Borja Valle will be the one taking the spot of Depor’s top-scorer, while Nahuel Leiva will enter in order to perform on the left wing. Those are the only expected modifications compared to the starting team of the last game.

Team news: The team stayed in Elche for two days after the delay, so Martí kept the same 19 men picked since Saturday. Michael Krohn-Dehli is joining Quique González at the injury room. The players out for tactical reasons are Sebastián Dubarbier, Pedro Mosquera, Vítor Silva and Iñigo López, the latter trained on Saturday after been released from jail.

Man to watch: Striker Carlos Fernández. The absence of Quique is just putting more pressure on the Andalusian attacker, who lived his best moment on the season precisely against Elche CF scoring a hat-trick in the first-round game that ended 4-0.

Picked players: (19) Dani Giménez, Adrián Ortolá (goalkeepers); David Simón, Eneko Bóveda, Domingos Duarte, Michelle Somma, Pablo Mari, Diego Caballo, Saúl García (defenders); Edu Expósito, Álex Bergantiños, Vicente Gómez, Didier Moreno, Pedro Sánchez, Fede Cartabia (midfielders); Nahuel Leiva, Carlos Fernández, Christian Santos & Borja Valle (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-4-2) Dani Giménez – Bóveda, Domingos Duarte, Pablo Mari, Saúl – Cartabia, Álex Bergantiños, Edu Expósito, Nahuel – Borja Valle, Carlos Fernández.
The fans at Elche CF are satisfied; after a doubtful start that put the team in relegation places, the team reacted and practically lived the second round without problems, even presenting marks that are the best in the league, like been the best scorer of the second round. But at the same time there’s a sense of concern for the instable behavior of the team in recent games, something that creates doubts ahead of next season.

Three weeks ago, Elche CF were leading UD Almeria 0-2 by minute 9, only to end losing 5-3. And just on the previous match, the Andalusians were leading 0-3 at Nástic, only to concede three goals within the last twenty minutes to end 3-3. That’s why coach José Rojo ‘Pacheta’ promised that his team is going to fix the mistakes of those games and offer a nice good-bye to the fans on their last home game on the season, “We are going to be the same competitive team that you saw with me here for the last fifteen months.” He said.

Team news: The delay was useful for Pacheta as he was able to recover two men that were dealing with knocks: defender Gonzalo Verdú and striker Yacine Qasmi. Midfielder Jony Ñíguez is out for injury reasons. Left-back Juan Cruz is suspended, while midfielder Karim Azamoum and striker Juan Francisco Martínez 'Nino’ are returning after missing the last game due to suspension. Pacheta announced that José Juan Figueras is going to be the starting goalie, he has made 13 appearances on the season.

Man to watch: Striker Juan Francisco Martínez ‘Nino’. Sory Kaba was the top-scorer of the team, but the Guinean was transferred during the winter window. It was feared that the Andalusians were going to feel his absence, but in the end they are the best scorers in the second round and big part of this is thanks to veteran Nino, who has scored 7 goals plus providing one assist, the important thing is that 4 of those 7 goals came within his last 7 presentations with the team..

Picked players: (19) José Juan Figueras, Édgar Badía (goalkeepers); Sergio ‘Tekio’ Blázquez, Manu Rodríguez, Gonzalo Verdú, Dani Calvo, Jesús Olmo, Alexander González (defenders); Manuel Sánchez, Iván Sánchez, Xavi Torres, Karim Azamoum, Nacho Gil, José Antonio ‘Josan’ Ferrández, Javi Flores(midfielders); Nino, Yacine Qasmi, Carlos Castro & Nacho Ramón (attackers)..

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) José Juan - Tekio, Gonzalo Verdú, Dani Calvo, Manu - Manuel Sánchez, Javi Flores - Iván Sánchez, Nino, Josan - Carlos Castro.
