New test for a Deportivo that showed some things, but also the same lack of depth from last season. The bad news is the injury of Christian Santos.

Second friendly game in the pre-season, the rival was Segunda B club Racing Ferrol. Juan Antonio Anquela had the casualties of Rolan, Pedro Mosquera, David Simón and Somma for injury reasons.  Once again, the lineup was a 4-4-2 with Mujaid as the only player from Fabril as a starter.

Depor had the ball possession since the start, the first chance to score was a lateral free-kick of Aketxe that Christian Santos couldn’t connect properly inside the box (7’). The first chance for Racing Ferrol was a long ball poorly defended by the defence that Juan Antonio sent close to the near post of Vegas (12’).

Álex Bergantiños, Aketxe and Gaku were combining at midfield, but their efforts weren’t ending in chances to score. It was until minute 21 that Depor were close to score again. A cross from left by Caballo was connected by Christian Santos and the ball went close to the crossbar. One minute later Borja Valle headed out a cross from the right.

But Racing Ferrol improved and started to have more approximations, at minute 25, a free-kick was headed by Marcos Álvarez and the ball went out close to the far post. Their next chance was a double opportunity at minute 33, first Marcos Álvarez fired from the edge of the area, Koke Vegas made the save and the loose ball was found by Juan Antonio, who later met the keeper again.

Koné entered the field before the break, he replaced Christian Santos, who left the game due to a knock (Achilles). Racing Ferrol had solid minutes at the end of the first part, so it wasn’t strange to see them scoring the first goal in the game. It was a corner-kick from the left that Juan Antonio met at the far post.

For the second half, the only substitution at the start was the entry of Vicente Gómez for Gaku Shibasaki. The game was more intense for the final part, not only for having more speed, but for unnecessary fouls committed mainly by Racing Ferrol.

Depor looked sharper in the second half, because it had more depth and speed, so they had more arrivals on the sides, though the crosses weren’t finding a receiver. Still, Los Blanquiazules found the equalizer. Koné stole the ball at the edge of the area and assisted Borja Valle, who scored with a low shot after the ball was deflected by keeper Chema.

Then Anquela changed eight of the nine remaining starters in the game, only Mujaid was remaining on the pitch, while seven of the players coming in are from Fabril. The other substitute was Fede Cartabia

The game lost brilliance and the intensity with the substitutions, only the moves from Cartabia, Javi Sánchez and Iago Gandoy brought some joy on the pitch. Cartabia had the best chance in the final stretch with a direct free-kick that was caught by Chema (81’).

Racing Ferrol: Diego Rivas (Chema 46’) - Quique Fornos (Villarejo 46’), Pau Bosch, Garrido, Bruno Rivada - Raúl Tavares (Borja Pita 78’), Iker Rodellar - Dani Abalo (Luis Rodríguez 78’), Alex López, Marcos Álvarez (Pablo Rey 46’) - Juan Antonio (Joselu 66’).
