Deportivo completed the second week in the pre-season between the worries for the slow progression of the team and the injuries that are starting to affect the players.

The second week in the pre-season of Deportivo is over, the first team continued to work in a double daily session and completed the first two friendly games in the stage. The first was a 2-0 win over Fabril (Wednesday) and the second a 1-1 draw with Racing Ferrol (Saturday).

With three weeks remaining to start the regular season in liga, there are two things worrying in the preparation of Deportivo. The first is the slow progression of a team that seems to be having a hard time in order to fix the errors from last season.

This was demonstrated in the last friendly with Racing Ferrol, Depor had the ball possession, but little depth in attack, while it had problems facing a rival that was pushing at midfield and constantly regaining the ball to unleash quick attacks that gave problems to the defence.

Juan Antonio Anquela need to fix these old issues and already stated that it will need time and that the team is only trying to survive during the pre-season, “The pre-season is only useful to prepare the players and be prepared for the league. We are in that process and have a week of delay, but with the intensity shown by the lads we are closer to have a good team.” He stated during the week.

The other thing to be worried is that the injury cases are already affecting the preparation of some players that should be key. Gaku Shibasaki joined the pre-season during the week and raised the number of players to 30 including the Fabril’s players working with the first team.

And there are already five men dragging issues. Michele Somma still struggling from the hamstring injury suffered in the first-leg game with RCD Mallorca and didn’t take part of the two friendly games. Same happened with David Simón, who is out since last week with a groin problem.

Then Diego Rolán and Pedro Mosquera managed to play against Fabril, but stayed out of the routine at the end of the week after picking knocks. The final case is Christian Santos, who suffered an Achilles injury during the friendly with Racing Ferrol and is pending to undergo further scans.
