Juan Antonio Anquela conceded an interview to Sportpaper Marca, he talked of the current situation of Deportivo and how he lives in a team that has been criticized for its poor start to the season.

Q: What is your assessment of the first seven matchdays?
A: The rating is bad. We carry few points.

Q: Did you expect so many difficulties?
A: Yes, of course. We are a new team and that’s hard. If the results could have been a little more benevolent, which I think they could have been in some games, then we would be calmer and we would not talk so much about this.

Q: What is costing you the most?
A: To be a block. We are building a team, but I’m sure that we will get it. I am convinced, but you have to specify it with points. We improved in Cádiz. Against the Mirandés we will see a different Depor. We will be protagonists.

Q: What is playing well for you?
A: I read someone in an interview that if you didn't play like Barcelona nobody was paying well. I don’t think so. I think there is a middle ground. I love that way of playing, I wish we could. The attitude shouldn’t be negotiated, the ability is had or not. In football sometimes people ask impossible things. You don't ask for pears from an elm tree.

Q: And what’s that maximum? Where is the roof?
A: I don’t know. The goal of Depor you already know what it is. The roof is up, but now our roof is to win on Sunday. Is there a squad? I am convinced that with what we have we can compete. To win is another story. If we do things as I think we can do it, we will be close to winning.

Q: Would it be a disappointment to not play the playoffs?
A: I don't think so, but for me, yes. I trust this team a lot and we deserve more. The fans deserve to be at their level and we will be there, because we are going to fight and we are going to grow. What happens is that it’s Segunda and you say "who will win here". I'm ambitious. I have never said this on any team. The only thing that has worried me is to win on Sunday, but Depor is another story, because its own history says that it has to be there, but there are many teams there with us.

Q: Do you understand the criticism from the fans?
A: Yes, as if not to understand them. The fans have eaten good ham and the one who ate that ham, when you put the other, then they tell you to eat it yourself.

Q: But the current reality is different...
A: That’s something I cannot say. There are people who should take care of that or should take care of it. It is everyone's business. I have seen very sensible people in A Coruña. The vast majority is very sensible. The golden age has passed and now we have to adapt to the circumstances. We have to make the fans happy, and for them we must fight, give everything and do what we can. If we do that, then we will be close to winning.

Q: Have you experienced other situations like last week, the sporting director met with the squad without you?
A: Yes, I have lived it. Besides that, I don't want to go into those conversations. They are things at the business level. Football has changed a lot. That was previously unthinkable. I with Carmelo have a way of understanding this and we are united. The boss is the president, then there’s Carmelo and then there’s me. Carmelo comes to me and tells me that he wants to talk to the players. Then I talk with them about other things. This works like this and I've already lived it.
