Debut for Luis César in difficult circumstances as Depor only have 14 players at the first team. The rival is growing on the season despite the criticism over the president.

Kick-off: 21h00 CET (Estadio de Gran Canaria)

Depor already tied last season’s negative streak of nine straight games without a victory. That streak cost the job to Natxo González and now it meant the exit of Anquela. Both are Depor’s longest winless streaks at Segunda División since the campaign 1987/88, at the time the team spent 17 matchdays without winning and the team only avoided the demotion due to the goal average rule with Bilbao Athletic.

Meanwhile, UD Las Palmas started the season like Deportivo: with negative results and criticism against the president, but things are changing as the team has clinched three straight victories. The Canarians already lost twice at Estadio de Gran Canaria: 0-1 Vs. SD Huesca and 0-3 Vs. UD Almeria.

Deportivo always suffered visiting the old Insular stadium, but things were different when UD Las Palmas moved into the Estadio de Gran Canaria in 2003. And it’s that after five games played there Los Blanquiazules won three times and drew in the other two matches. Last season the result was 1-1 with a goal in the added time by Domingos Duarte.

Debut for Luis César Sampedro at the bench, but not under the best circumstances. He not only has to recover the morale of a team dragging bad results and face a rival in an ascending lane, but must also built up a starting eleven with the few resources available. And it’s that between the injuries and players on international duty, there are ae only fourteen men available, so he had to choose five lads from Fabril.

One of them is expected to start covering the right side of the defence: Jorge Valín. Luis César is also forced to improvise, because Eneko Bóveda will perform as a centre-back, while Vicente Gómez returns to his homeland in order to perform at midfield in his third appearance as a starter.

Team news: Left-back Luis Ruiz picked a muscle problem on Thursday and joined Somma, David Simón and Mamadou Koné at the injury room. Also, there are four players on international duty: Javi Montero (U21 Spain), Víctor Mollejo (U19 Spain), Vassilios Lampropoulos (Greece) and Gaku Shibasaki (Japan). In the end five players from Fabril were picked for the match: Javi Sánchez, Martí Vilà, Enrique Bourdal, Iago Gandoy and Jorge Valín.

Man to watch: Right-back Jorge Valín. He is 19 and debuted at Segunda B on last season leaving a positive impression. He will now debut with the first team as Bóveda is moved into the centre of the defence. The A Coruña-born player is considered as one of the main promises currently at Fabril.

Picked players: (19) Dani Giménez, Koke Vegas (goalkeepers); Eneko Bóveda, Jorge Valín, Enrique Bourdal, Martí Vilà, Salva Ruiz, (defenders); Álex Bergantiños, Peru Nolaskoain, Vicente Gómez, Iago Gandoy, Javi Sánchez, Borja Galán, Ager Aketxe, Saša Jovanović (midfielders); Christian Santos, Borja Valle, Beto da Silva & Samuele Longo (attackers)

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Dani Giménez – Valín, Bóveda, Nolaskoain, Salva Ruiz – Álex Bergantiños, Vicente Gómez – Borja Galán, Aketxe, Borja Valle - Longo.
The team coached by Pepe Mel has reacted after a poor start to the league, the Canarians have added three straight wins and look at the standings with more optimism, but it hasn’t satisfied the fans, who continue to criticize president Miguel Ángel Ramírez for his poor managing over the club. The last chapter was lived this week as the club announced that it won’t allow any signboard at the stadium criticizing the board or the president. The Federation of peñas also announced that it won’t attend to any of the Fanzones organized by the club until the president sells his participation at the club.

Team news: The Canarians also have a long list of casualties for the game, Mel is missing ten players for the meeting. Eight are injured, two of them are last-minute cases: Striker Juan José Narváez and centre-back Mauricio Lemos (moth muscle). The other players injured are midfielder Maikel Mesa (groin), winger Benito Ramirez (toe), goalkeeper Raúl Fernández (hand fracture), strikers Sergio Araujo (ankle) and Rubén Castro (Achilles), plus winger Jean Armel Drolé (tibia and fibula fracture).

Then goalkeeper Josep Martínez is out concentrated with U-21 Spain, while midfielder Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta is suspended with five yellow cards. Mel will have to make at least four changes at the starting lineup that defeated CD Lugo during last week, one of them will mean the debut of 22-year-old goalkeeper Álvaro Valles

Man to watch: Attacker Pedro González ‘Pedri’. He is only 16 and can perform as left winger or forward. He joined UD Las Palmas in 2018 and FC Barcelona already paid €5 million for him (he is playing loaned for the current season). On September 19, he became into the youngest player that scores in liga for the Canarians, more recently he has netted two goals in his last three appearances and is tied with Jonathan Viera as the top-scorers at the team.

Picked players: Roster to be released on Sunday

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Álvaro Valles - Álvaro Lemos, Mantovani, Aythami, De la Bella - Kirian Rodríguez, Fabio González - Slavoljub Srnić, Jonathan Viera, Pedri – Pekhart.
