THINKING OF FUENLABRADA CF

01 Nov 2019
Somma and David Simón are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and Deportivo are still searching for a victory. Fuenlabrada CF is the surprise of the season.

Another week with Deportivo lying at the bottom of the standings; the draw at Racing Santander left a feeling of hope for what was saw in the second half, but the fact that the team has spent three months without winning is a burden that still affecting the confidence of the team. Still, the club decided to lift the void and allowed interviews, something that was blocked on last week.

Now Depor are facing a second straight game on the road and the scenario is different, because the Galicians are passing from facing a team in the same dramatic situation to meet the revelation of the campaign: Fuenlabrada CF (Fernando Torres stadium, Saturday, 16h00 CET).

Coach Luis César Sampedro has, sort or less, the same squad that faced the visit to El Sardinero. Left-back defender Luis Ruiz suffered a relapse from the adductor injury that affected his right thigh and hasn’t trained during the week. He will miss the clash together with centre-back Michele Somma (knee sprain) and right-back David Simón (thigh).

Those two players seem to be close to return after a long absence. Somma is out since August 25 (game at SD Huesca) and it was believed he would return soon, but already missed twelve games. In any case, the Italian defender started to train with the group on Thursday and should be available soon.

In the case of the Canarian player, he sustained the injury before the visit to Cádiz CF (September 21), and the club never informed about his condition despite missing the last six games, but he started to make some exercises with the group during this week and should be back soon.

Fuenlabrada CF are living a dream, from been a debutant at Segunda with the only goal of surviving, it has passed to be a solid candidate to the promotion playoff. Coach Baldomero Hermoso ‘Mere’ was able to build up a squad that mixes the structure of the team that clinched the promotion with some veterans that arrived for specific positions.

The main casualties for the game will be two players that were starters at the beginning of the season: winger Jose Fran (grade II muscle injury) and centre midfielder Pablo Clavería (ankle sprain). There are other two players out for injury reasons: centre-back José Fran, who has been out for almost a month after suffering a jaw fracture in the game against Sporting Gijón, and winger Alberto Fernández, a youngster that came loaned from Castilla but that hasn’t played yet as he suffered a knee ligaments injury at the end of last campaign.
