Depor search for some hope in Copa Del Rey, though the game is unwanted among the fans, who will be more pending of what happens during the shareholders meeting.

Referee: Gorka Sagués Oscoz
Kick-off: 19h00 CET (Papa Luna)

Deportivo have won twice the Copa Del Rey, but as it happened with its descending career in liga, the participation in Copa in recent years has been poor. The Galicians have only won two of its last ten games in the tournament and never passed the second round within the last eight years.

The last time Depor reached a farthest round in Copa was for the campaign 2010/11; at the time Los Blanquiazules were at Primera and advanced two rounds to end failing in quarterfinals against UD Almería (agg. 2-4).

Meanwhile, it’s an historic game for CF Illueca as this is their first participation in Copa Del Rey. The Aragonian club was founded in 1935 and their best achievement so far was to play in 17 Tercera tournaments. And the current tournament is their best one, they are out of the promotion zone, but have only lost once after 17 matchdays.

Coach Luis César Sampedro has said that this game could mark the future of the team as a victory could be a morale boost, but the true is that this is an unwanted game taking in mind the current situation. Deportivo have spent four months without winning a game in liga, and now searches for some satisfaction in a different competition, which can be an injection of fresh air to a team without confidence.

But the true is that no one seems to want to play the game. The fans are more pending of what will happen with the club after the announced exit of the board od directors, and to make things more distracting the annual shareholders meeting has been scheduled at the same time than the kick-off of the match. So, the attention will be focused in another place.

Team news: Luis Cesar made a roster resting some players. Peru Nolaskoain
Lampropoulos, Mujaid
and Luis Ruiz weren’t picked for the meeting, while Aketxe, Longo and Salva Ruiz were recalled after been left out of the game at SD Ponferradina. There are three Fabril’s players on the roster: Iago Gandoy, Valín and David Sánchez, the three of them are expected to start. Borja Galán is out after picking an injury in the game at El Toralín, he joins David Simón, Borja Valle and Gaku Shibasaki at the injury room.

Man to watch: Midfielder Iago Gandoy. It has been a disastrous season for the centre midfielders at Deportivo, but that hasn’t been enough to give a chance as a starter to Gandoy, one of the most promising players at Fabril. The 20-year-old midfielder has only played for five minutes in Segunda, now he will have the chance to perform since the kick-off.

Picked players: (18) Dani Giménez, Koke Vegas (goalkeepers); Eneko Bóveda, Michelle Somma, Jorge Valín, Javi Montero, Salva Ruiz (defenders); Álex Bergantiños, Vicente Gómez, Iago Gandoy, Ager Aketxe, Saša Jovanović, David Sánchez, Víctor Mollejo (midfielders); Mamadou Koné, Christian Santos, Samuele Longo & Beto da Silva (attackers)

Predicted lineup: (4-3-3) Dani Giménez – Valín, Montero, Somma, Salva Ruiz – Iago Gandoy, Álex Bergantiños, David Sánchez – Aketxe, Longo, Christian Santos.
These are good times for a club that not so long ago was fighting in lower leagues, suddenly they are at Tercera spending 15 matchdays without losing and have the opportunity to play in Copa Del Rey for the first opportunity. Their only problem is the large number of draws, results that are keeping them out of the promotion zone. In a general sense, they see the participation on Copa as a reward and face the game with calm and ambition.

Team news: Coach Javier Romero has no injury concerns for the game and didn’t rest players in the 1-1 draw with Belchite 97 at home, though top-scorer Morales started on the bench as he is expected to start against Depor.

Man to watch: Striker Alberto Morales. The captain and top-scorer of the team. He is 36 and already spent 7 years at the Aragonian club. Morales has scored 9 goals in the Tercera tournament.

Picked players: Roster not released.

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Roberto Cerdán -, Pinto, Gorri, Cavero, Lopez Burgues - Chino, Jorge Álvarez - José Luis, Suso, Álvaro Sanz ‘Kun’ - Morales.
