Depor barely eliminated a rival from Tercera División. The goals came within the final five minutes after Luis César made the changes.

Coach Luis César Sampedro presented a 4-4-2 formation. The main novelty was to see the debut of goalkeeper Koke Vegas. Also to notice that Peruvian attacker Beto da Silva was playing for the first time as a starter.

Koke Vegas covered the goal. Eneko Bóveda performed at the right side of the defence, Salva Ruiz returned to the left flank, Michelle Somma and Javi Montero were the centre-backs. Iago Gandoy was the only Fabril’s player at the lineup and joined Álex Bergantiños at midfield. Ager Aketxe attacked from the right wing, Saša Jovanović did it from the left, then the centre forward were Christian Santos and Beto da Silva.

At SD Illueca, coach Javier Romero presented a 4-4-2 formation, Alberto Morales  was attacking from the right wing, so the duo in attack was composed by Daniel Suárez and Álex Gracia.

The game started with Deportivo having the ball possession, but the Galicians lacked ideas and depth. And the first opportunity to score was for CF Illueca, it was a lateral free-kick in which Koke Vegas made the save against Álex Gracia and later a defender cleared the ball at the goal line (8’).

Depor were having the same plane game shown in liga, but the rival seemed content giving the ball to the Galicians and later tried to surprise with the counterattack. Beto da Silva was the most active player in attack, but his solo moves were ending in nothing.

The rest of the attacking line was intermittent, Jovanović was caught in offside in three opportunities within the first twenty minutes, while Christian Santos and Aketxe were only appearing to make short passes.

CF Illueca was close to surprise at minute 23, it was a long throw that Koke Vegas had to cut out before the arrival of Morales. Two minutes later, Jovanović dribbled local keeper Mario Forcén, but later the ball went out before he was able to release a shot.

The locals started to push within the final fifteen minutes; they earned four corner-kicks in this frame, but without doing any damage.  Meanwhile, Deportivo ended the first part without completing any shot on target, this stat demonstrates the current poor form of the team.

The final part started with the same script, Deportivo were having the ball and CF Illueca were holding on without major problems. The first approximation for the visiting side was a shot of Iago Gandoy that went wide (56’).

CF Illueca scored a goal at minute 57, it was Daniel Suárez who connected the ball after a corner-kick, but it was disallowed because Alberto Morales was offside. Then Luis César made the first substitutions with Víctor Mollejo and Samuele Longo entering for Jovanović and Beto da Silva

At minute 59, Morales attempted a long-distance shot that was blocked by Koke Vegas. Clearest was the chance at minute 66, Jorge López headed a cross from the left and Koke Vegas made the save.

It gave the impression that the locals could win the game as soon as they could start to push, while Depor were clueless in offensive positions and there were some mismatches in defence. The first shot on target in the game for Depor came until minute 69; it was a header of Mollejo that was blocked by Mario Forcén.

The last substitution at Depor was the entry of Koné for Aketxe, the Galicians ended the game with a 4-3-3 formation and it pay off, because they found two goals. First Mollejo was trying to connect a cross from the left and the ball hit the arm of Jorge López and the referee called the penalty.

Then Samuele Longo scored from the spot, and only two minutes later the second goal arrived with Mamadou Koné entering by the left side to score from close range. But the Ivorian player didn’t end the game as he was sent off with a second yellow card.

Bad game by Deportivo against a Tercera rival that looked better in big parts of the game, but that wasn’t ambitious enough to make a step forward. The goals arrived at the end after b>Luis César made the changes.

The second round in Copa Del Rey will take place in January, the draw will take place later. The last game for Depor in 2019 will take place on Friday as CD Tenerife will visit the Riazor playing for la liga (21h00 CET).
