Incredible year for the female team of Deportivo. The gals won 24 of the 29 official games in the year, they also clinched the promotion to the elite and are currently having a solid season at liga Iberdrola.

2019 was definitely the year of Depor Ladies. After having a couple of frustrations for not clinching the promotion to the elite, this time the gals had a perfect year. The year started with an impressive mark of 13 victories in the last 13 games of the regular campaign 2018/19, in this frame they also presented an impressive record of 71 goals scored and only 5 allowed.

They qualified for the playoffs and also had a perfect mark there with four victories in four matches. They first dispatched Alhama CF with a 6-1 aggregate score, and in the final series the Ladies didn’t have any problem against Fermaguín (agg. 6-1).

The team had reached the elite of female football in Spain, and this after only three years of been founded and always having the same coach, Manu Sánchez. Now the challenge was bigger: to survive at Liga Iberdola in order to settle the project.

The true is that the expectations weren’t big ahead of the season 2019/20. There were limitations at the moment of building up the team and Sánchez barely have the needed players at the moment of making the rosters (only 20 players at the first team).

Besides, the results during the pre-season weren’t great, especially the disastrous game for the Teresa Herrera with the team crashing against UD Granadilla Tenerife (1-5, August 10). But that was more a lesson than a premonition, because the team was going to be the surprise of the Liga Iberdrola 2019/20.

And it’s that, with the end of the first round around the corner, the team is currently fifth at the standings, having a comfortable advantage over the drop zone (15 points); actually, the team could be third, but the last game in the year (against Real Sociedad) was suspended due to the weather conditions in Galicia.

The season 2019/20 started with a solid Depor Ladies, they were going to spend seven matchdays without losing at the start of the tournament, the first defeat in the year came until November with the visit to Atlético Madrid (4-1, November). It was followed by the defeat at FC Barcelona (6-1). Totally, the team only lost three times in official games during 2019 (the other one was a 1-0 loss visiting Levante UD in December).

Statistically, the team played 29 official games in 2019, it won 24 of those game, it drew twice and only lost three games, all of them at Primera División. The Ladies also present an astonishing mark of 105 goals scored and only 27 allowed.
