The preparation of the game at CD Numancia started in a weird way as there’s no head coach at Deportivo. The new board visited the team as the players returned from the Christmas break.

The first team returned from the Christmas break only to find out that Luis César is no longer the coach. The session was directed by Alejandro Esteve, Marcos Marcén and Yván Castillo, the three assistants that have been at Depor since the stage of Anquela.

David Simón was the only player that worked apart as he is still recovering from groin surgery. But seven players skipped the session as they have permission until tomorrow: Lampropoulos, Gaku Shibasaki, Somma, Longo, Christian Santos, Koné and Beto da Silva.

The provisional board of directors visited the team before the training session, they wanted to explain things to the players and later the provisional president, Juan Antonio Armenteros, addressed the media. Fernando Vidal was out of Spain and for that reason he wasn’t there.

Armenteros explained to reporters the job of the board, “It will be the first and possibly the last statement I make. My position is provisional until the elections. We have a lot of work to do as we have to make important decisions for the future of the club. I have had to adopt this role, because the previous board didn’t want to make the urgent decisions to be taken, and we came to work.”

He also talked of the reaction from the players, “The squad has understood the decision perfectly. We have transmitted tranquility and security, because it is what it is. The future of the club is assured in the economic and sporting sense.”

Fernando Vázquez remains to be the frontrunner in order to coach the team, but he hasn’t reached an economic agreement with the club. Armenteros didn’t want to talk of him, “We are working on that issue, within the next days everything will be known.” He said.
