New coach and first away victory. The arrival of Fernando Vázquez meant to see the return of the tactical order. Somma has scored two times in his career at Depor, and both goals were scored at Los Pajaritos.

1- Tactical order: The Deportivo that won at Los Pajaritos seemed like a very different team to the one of previous matchdays, and it was something beyond the introduction of a new system. What happened is that all the players knew their roles and they stick to it. The centre-backs didn’t have to go out and face unmarked rivals, because the midfielders were doing their job, and even Aketxe and Borja Valle seemed participative in offense, though the front line also lacked ideas to create more opportunities.

In the end it was possible to witness a team that covered all the passing lines and CD Numancia were reduced to only create two scoring opportunities. The locals became desperate and saw that the only road to the goal was to release long throw-ins and the set-pieces, but the defence was alert in all of these actions. Then it was a matter of seizing one of the chances had in attack.

2- Peru Nolaskoain: Good game by the Athletic’s loanee. He was the player with the better criterion making the transition defence-attack and ended as the player at Depor with more passes (48, 71% pass accuracy). He even completed two shots, one of them could have been the second goal, but he sent the ball out despite been alone inside the area.

3- Good and bad decisions by Fernando Vázquez: The newest Depor’s coach explained after the game that he decided to not change the tactic despite the rival was playing with one less player. Instead he kept the system and was going to switch it at minute 70 in case of not having the advantage. In the end the decision was right as his team claimed the lead early in the second half.

But later Vázquez decided to make changes reinforcing the sides, and that part didn’t work, because neither Borja Galán nor Luis Ruiz helped to reduce the pressure put by CD Numancia on both sides, the latter even had a couple of bad passes that ended in counterattacks for the rival. It neither helped the entry of Longo, once again lacking weight in attack.

4- The weird numbers of Somma: This is the second goal scored by Michelle Somma wearing Depor’s shirt, and both goals were scored in Soria to see Depor winning by one goal. Last season’s 1-2 win was the first victory of Jose Luis Martí at Depor and the one on this season was the first for Fernando Vázquez, so the Italian centre-back has scored the decisive goal to witness the first win of two of Depor’s last four coaches.

5- Back-to-back wins and first away victory: For the first time on the season Depor have won consecutive games. Last campaign it didn’t happen in the regular competition, only during the playoffs. It was also the first away win as Depor never won outside the Riazor during the first round.
