The last two home games of Deportivo have witnessed a lot of changes; Fernando Vázquez changed the tactic at the middle of the first part; for the first time two debutants scored a goal.

- Winds of change: Things have radically changed in Coruńa. The previous home meeting, at the end of last 2019 against CD Tenerife, was played with a lot of tension. Almost three weeks later the home game with Racing Santander was more like a party, with the double of people at the stands, and with a team that plays differently, not only for having a new coach, but for been a group of players that’s starting to earn confidence. For this reason, players like Aketxe and Gaku Shibasaki showed an intensity unseen in past matches. The attitude of the fans was also different. In the past a goal from the rival was responded with whistles, now the fans were pushing the team when Racing scored.

- The tactics of Fernando Vázquez: Vázquez said after the game that he decided to give continuity to the system with five defenders, but the tactic started to fail after conceding a goal. And he didn’t hesitate in making changes. Other coaches might have waited to half-lime, but he made the change at minute 30. The entry of Çolak didn’t influence in the equalizer, but it truly made an impact in the rest of the game. The Turkish playmaker helped to regain control of the game and ended scoring the winning goal. Later Vázquez decided to return to the line of five men after the expulsion, for this reason he delayed the position of Peru Nolaskoain and allowed the entry of Álex, so Depor ended with a 5-4-0 scheme.

- The saves by Dani Giménez: The tactics of the coach might have worked, but the victory also needed the saves of Dani Giménez. Truly the Galician keeper could have done better in the goal of Racing, but in the second half he was vital, especially after the entry of Papunashvili. The save against the header of Yoda was among the best ones on this season (85’).

- Mujaid: It’s easy to stay with the performance of Çolak, the goal of Merino, or some of the moves by Aketxe and Gaku, but the man of the match was Mujaid Sadick. The 19-year-old defender was the most constant player at Deportivo. He was simply perfect in defensive tasks and ended making five vital clearances. Fernando Vázquez has said that he sees the player as a centre-back, and he has completed solid games with the new coach.

- Two debutants scoring: For the first time at Deportivo, two debutants signed in the winter window scored a goal in their first game with the team. Celso Borges managed to score a brace in his debut against Rayo Vallecano (January 30, 2015). Now two different players found the goal in their first game after been signed in the winter window: Çolak and Sabin Merino. The latter scored a goal for the first time in more than three years. His last goal in an official game was scored with the first team of Athletic Club (23/Oct/2016 Vs. Real Madrid in liga).

- Comeback in the scoresheet: For the first time on the season, Depor won a game after been trailing at some point. The early goal of Racing Santander affected the team, but the Galicians regained the control and won the meeting thanks to the goal from Çolak and Sabin Merino. The previous time Depor won a game after been trailing was in the playoff meeting with Málaga CF (June 6, 2019). At the time Depor were losing 1-2 at half-time and ended winning 4-2.

- Three straight victories: Depor have chained three straight victories. The Galicians also chained three straight wins in the past playoffs, and the previous time this happened during a regular season was on the Segunda campaign 2014/15, also with Fernando Vázquez as the coach. It happened between matchdays 33 and 35: 0-2 at Real Madrid Castilla, 2-0 Vs. Recreativo de Huelva and 0-3 at RCD Mallorca.
