Midfielder Uche Agbo has signed for Deportivo. The defensive midfielder is trying to settle after a couple of bad years.

The club announced on Tuesday that midfielder Uche Agbo has signed for Deportivo. The 24-uear-old player is in A CoruŮa since last week, but only completed the medicals on Monday as the club was trying to find an empty slot for him. Itís a loan deal negotiated with Standard de Lieja, the deal is for the rest of the season and the club informed thereís the option for an extension, though it didnít give more details.

Uche Agbo is a Nigerian midfielder that already played for nine different clubs despite only been 24. After starting his career in Nigeria, he was signed by the Pozo family that controls several European clubs, including Udinese Calcio. In 2013, he was sent to Granada CF and played for the B squad making 57 appearances at Segunda B.

Between 2014 and 2016 he also made six appearances at Primera Divisiůn. He made the final jump to the first team for the season 2016/17, been 21 he made 31 appearances at the elite and left a positive sensation, but at the same time it was a terrible season for the Andalusians as they suffered the demotion to Segunda.

Considered as a defensive midfielder with solid abilities marking rivals and with a good aerial game, h was about to be transferred to Watford in the Premier League, but didnít have the working permission and ended at Standard Lieja, club that paid two million euros for him.

Over there he lived his best year during the season 2017/18, he made 39 official appearances and his team won the Cup and ended second at the Jupiler Pro League, the problem is that one year later he lost the credit at the club with the exit of coach Sa Pinto. In the winter window of 2019, he was loaned to Rayo Vallecano, but only suffered a new relegation and only played six times.

During last summer he was close to sign for Genk, but didnít pass the medicals and ended at Sporting Braga, club that was coached by Sa Pinto. It seemed he could regain his past form there, but Sa Pinto was fired after only 14 games. In the end Uche has only played 3 minutes during the present campaign, and it was in the 2-2 draw with FC Famalic„o playing for Liga Nos (November 3).

Agbo is the fourth signing completed by Deportivo in the winter window. The previous reinforcements made by the Galician club were Emre «olak, Sabin Merino and Claudio Beauvue.
