Fernando Vázquez tested novelties in the lineup with Hugo Vallejo and Keko Gontán acting as fullbacks. AD Alcorcón are trying to find stability and goals.

Kick-off: 12h00 CET (Santo Domingo)

AD Alcorcón are currently 13th at the standings, only four points under the promotion zone. And currently they hold the best streak in the league with seven games without losing. But these stats hide a reality: the Madrilenians have big problems to score goals and therefore to win games.

And it’s that, of their last seven games without defeats, only one meant a victory. Also, their last home game meant a 3-1 win over SD Ponferradina, and that was their first home victory in more than two months. So, it isn’t a surprise to realize that AD Alcorcón are the fourth worst home team in the league with only 15 points added in 13 games at Santo Domingo, mark only above Racing Santander (14), Extremadura UD (13) and Albacete Balompié (12).

Meanwhile, Deportivo arrive to the meeting after six straight victories, which is the best current streak among the first three tiers in Spanish football. But the Galicians have always faced problems playing at Santo Domingo, this after losing 2 of the 3 liga games played there in the past, including the 4-0 loss of the season 2011/12.

The instability due to the winter window is over, but coach Fernando Vázquez is still forced to make changes. With Sabin Merino out injured, Claudio Beauvue was going to start, but the French attacker suffered a muscle injury on Saturday and is out of the game. So, the coach tested a 5-4-1 scheme with Keko Gontán and Hugo Vallejo acting as fullbacks, and also with Mamadou Koné as a centre forward. It’s the most recent novelty in a long list of improvisations that have worked for the coach.

Team news: Claudio Beauvue, Sabin Merino and Salva Ruiz are the players at the injury room. Aleksandar Jovanović and Keko Gontán were picked for the first time after been signed on deadline day. Christian Santos and David Simón have surpassed their injuries, but the coach decided to reserve them. Uche Agbo is out because he was dealing with physical issues during the week and the coach decided to leave him out.

Man to watch: Attacker Hugo Vallejo. The Andalusian player has impressed in the training sessions, Fernando Vázquez has described him as a strength machine and now has the option to perform as a fullback together with Keko Gontán. A lot is expected from this 19-year-old player and this is his first opportunity at Deportivo.

Picked players: (18) Dani Giménez, Aleksandar Jovanović (goalkeepers); Eneko Bóveda, Michelle Somma, Javi Montero, Mujaid Sadick, Luiz Ruiz (defenders); Álex Bergantiños, Vicente Gómez, Gaku Shibasaki, Peru Nolaskoain, Ager Aketxe, Emre Çolak, Víctor Mollejo, Keko Gontán (midfielders) Mamadou Koné, Hugo Vallejo & Borja Valle (attackers)

Predicted lineup: (5-4-1) Dani Giménez – Keko Gontán, Somma, Mujaid, Montero, Hugo Vallejo – Aketxe, Nolaskoain, Gaku Shibasaki, Mollejo – Koné.
This is the tenth season of AD Alcorcón at Segunda División, and their best days came with the Alcorconazo in Copa del Rey plus the couple of appearances in the promotion playoff.  Now, in the age of the salary cap, they are trying to regroup and find stability that could lead them to the elite. And that isn’t easy only having the fifth lowest salary cap in the league (€5.09 million).

Last season they started like the surprise of the tournament, been the leaders at some point in the first round. But later they fell down completely, to the point of ending out of the first six places. Now the path is similar with coach Fran Fernández, because they had a good start winning three of the first six games, but recently their results have been disappointing after only winning one of the last eleven official games.

Team news: There are three casualties for injury reasons: striker Jack Harper, goalkeeper Samu Casado and left-back defender Carlos Bellvis. Also, right-back Laure is suspended after been sent off in the visit to Racing Santander.

Man to watch: Playmaker Juan Diego Molina ‘Stoichkov’. He is the top-scorer at the team as the last goal at Racing Santander meant his tenth of the season, tying his personal mark at Segunda B club Balompédica Linense.

Picked players: Roster to be released on Sunday.

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1) Dani Jiménez – Paris Adot, Dieguez, David Fernández, Pomares - Boateng, Luis Perea - Alex Mula, Stoichkov, Óscar Arribas - Rui Costa.
