Deportivo is thinking of Domingo Catoira as a sporting secretary for the club. He will be under the command of Richard Barral.

Sportpaper AS reported that Deportivo are close to sign Domingo Catoira as the sporting secretary of the club. The club now under the command of Fernando Vidal is not thinking in having a sporting director, instead it will continue with Richard Barral as an advisor and is planning to hire a secretary who will function as a “second man” in command of the sporting project. The signing and the announcement is currently on hold due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Catoira is a French former player of Depor’s academy. He was part of the Fabril team that competed at Segunda B for the season 1991/92 and later stayed in that division performing for CD Lugo, Novelda and Benidorm. He retired in 2007 and became the sporting director of Benidorm.

From there he jumped to Valencia CF in 2010 and became the main assistant of Braulio Vázquez, a former partner at Fabril that was working as the Sporting director for the Valencian club. After four years both Braulio and Catoira left the club and joined Real Valladolid and he became the technical secretary.

And in 2017 the ex-Fabril man returned to Valencia CF, this time pulled by Alesanco and Vicente Rodríguez in order to become into one of the main assistors at the sporting direction. And in January of the current year he was fired as César Sánchez assumed the role of sporting director and started a major facelift at the club.
