DEPOR RELEGATED TO SEGUNDA B

21 Jul 2020
Deportivo didn’t play its game against CF Fuenlabrada, but Los Blanquiazules are going to Segunda B as CD Lugo and Albacete got dramatic wins.

A weird matchday, no one was expecting what happened in A Coruña with the game against CF Fuenlabrada suspended for COVID-19 cases at the Madrilenian club. In a controversial decision, La Liga and the RFEF allowed to play the rest of the games, and it wasn’t positive for Deportivo.

CD Lugo and Albacete Balompié won their games in a dramatic way, CD Lugo coming from behind hosting CD Mirandés (2-1), and Albacete with a controversial penalty visiting Cádiz CF (0-1). Now the game against FC Fuenlabrada I useless for the Galicians, but the Madrilenians need a point in order to qualify for the playoffs.

Deportivo will play at the third tier of Spanish football for the third time in its history (1974/75 & 1980/81). And it’s a transition year, because the Segunda B 2020/21 will be composed by 100 clubs as the RFEF is trying to create a new league that will be located between Segunda B and Tercera.
