FIGHT BETWEEN LA LIGA AND THE XUNTA

31 Jul 2020
The Xunta de Galicia opened a sanctioning file against La Liga, the response was a threat. In the meantime, Deportivo refuse to play against CF Fuenlabrada.

On Thursday, the government of Galicia (Xunta de Galicia) opened a sanctioning file against La Liga and CF Fuenlabrada. The Xunta remains upset for what happened after the Madrilenian club traveled to A Coruña having COVID-19 cases that weren’t reported to the authorities.

The response from La Liga was surprising and at the same time defiant. La Liga released a statement in which they insinuated that the actions of the Galician government aren’t related to health concerns and rather with the situation of Deportivo.

In the meantime, the investigation of the Spanish federation is taking longer. It was expected that tomorrow members of CF Fuenlabrada were going to be interviewed by the judge of the competition committee but admitted postponing the interviews as CF Fuenlabrada reported that their squad was going back to Madrid on Friday.

This is also a contradiction as CF Fuenlabrada were trying to rush the game with Deportivo, the Madrilenian club and La Liga were trying to play the game this Sunday, and it doesn’t make sense that the team is going back to Madrid on Friday.

In any case, Deportivo already informed that they won’t play the game this Sunday, because its too risky taking in mind that the lockdown period of 14 days hasn’t been completed, also because they won’t accept to play any game until the competition committee resolves their demand for not playing the whole matchday at the same hour.
