THE RESPONSE FROM THE LFP

15 Aug 2020
As it was expected, La Liga responded that “no” to the request of 24 teams at Segunda. Now the RFEF has the next move, which includes the sanctioning file against CF Fuenlabrada.

La Liga sent a letter response to the RFEF saying that’s impossible to organize a Segunda league with 24 clubs due to “organizational” and “economic” reasons. Among these reasons is that the relegations are “already decided” and that it’s impossible to change it without needing a meeting with all the league clubs in which only one vote is needed to block the petition.

Among the economic reasons is that each club at Primera and Segunda will have to pay €3 million as the presence of two additional clubs at Segunda will mean two more clubs “to feed”. It’s not clear how hos amount was calculated and this reasoning is also absurd, because the mess was created by the LFP itself, and both CD Numancia and Deportivo are the affected clubs and not the cause.

In any case, this was the expected response from the LFP. Tebas and his organization remains in war with the RFEF and now with both Depor and Numancia. The next step is to wait for the RFEF, the judge of the Competition Committee should release his report in the coming days, and the possible demotion of CF Fuenlabrada will just open a new chapter in this war.

Actually, on Friday it was known that CF Fuenlabrada is already preparing a demand against the RFEF as they aware of their own infractions. Deportivo and CD Numancia are also waiting to know the response from the Superior Council of Sports (CSD) about their request to separate Javier Tebas as the president of the LFP.
