IGNACIO GONZÁLEZ SIGNS FOR DEPOR

19 Sep 2020
Uruguayan Ignacio González is the seventh signing of Deportivo for the new season. The winger/playmaker is a surprise reinforcement for the Galicians as this is his first experience in Europe.

Deportivo announced on Friday the signing of Ignacio González. The Uruguayan left winger/playmaker is 26 and pens a two-year contract with the Galician club. Depor didn’t pay for him, but his former club, Plaza Colonia, keeps the 50% of his transfer rights.

González can be described as the big question mark of the season that’s about to begin, just like Beto da Silva on the previous campaign. He is a left winger that can also perform as a playmaker and that made almost his entire career in Uruguay.

Between 2012 and 2017, he made 116 appearances with Danubio in Uruguay’s first division and scored 9 goals. Since then he has played in Argentina (only 4 games with San Martí Tucumán) and in 2020 returned to Uruguay and signed for Plaza Colonia, club where he played 8 games in the current Torneo Apertura (12 games played so far, he didn’t score any goal).  His International experience is reduced to win the Gold medal with Uruguay in the Pan American Games of 2015.

Ignacio González is the seventh reinforcement of Depor ahead of the season 2020/21. Previously Deportivo signed goalkeepers Carlos Abad and Lucho García, centre-back Borja Granero, left-back Héctor Hernández, midfielder Celso Borges, plus left winger José Alonso Lara.
