Miku is the ninth signing of Deportivo. The veteran striker has signed a one-year contract with the club after completing a couple of training sessions.

Deportivo announced on Friday the signing of Nicolás Ladislao Fedor ‘Miku’. The 35-year-old striker arrives as a free agent and pens a one-year contract. He already completed two training sessions with the team and was picked for the friendly Vs. Racing Villabés (Saturday, 11h30 CET).

The story of Miku is curious. His father is Hungarian and was born in Venezuela. In 2001, he was on vacation in Valencia and decided to spend the time training with the Juvenile squad of SD Sueca. The coaches were impressed with him and was invited to stay.

At the age of 17, he made the big decision of making a career in football that has lasted two decades. Real Madrid and Valencia CF were interested in him, and the Venezuelan attacker chose the Valencians. He started a period of five years been loaned out and playing at Segunda and Segunda B.

At the time, his best seasons were spent at Salamanca, first scoring 18 goals in 36 Segunda B presentations (2005/06), his team reached the promotion to Segunda, later he netter 15 goals in 37 presentations at Segunda (2008/09).

If the beginning of his career was curious, his history with Valencia CF was weird. Miku spent six years under contract with Los Ches, but only managed to make five official presentations with the first team, three of them in European tournaments, including scoring a hat-trick against Stabæk IF in the Europa League qualifying round. But there was no room for him at the first team and ended up at Getafe CF.

In the winter window of 2010, he rescinded with Valencia CF and signed a five-year deal with the Madrilenians. His best years in Spain were lived with Los Azulones. In the period he scored 26 goals in 94 league appearances with Getafe CF. In this frame, he scored three goals against Deportivo, including a brace at the Riazor (March 28, 2010).

From there, he played loaned at Celtic Glasgow and later returned to Spain and played for Rayo Vallecano, club where he scored 11 goals in 29 Primera appearances. Miku spent the last three years playing in exotic leagues, first with Bengaluru FC (India) and later at Omonia Nicosia (Cyprus), the last wasn’t a good experience, he only played 9 games there.

Miku is the ninth signing of Depor ahead of the season 2020/21. Previously, Deportivo signed goalkeepers Carlos Abad and Lucho García, centre-back Borja Granero, left-back Héctor Hernández, midfielder Celso Borges, left wingers José Alonso Lara and Ignacio González, plus striker Rui Costa.
