Victory in the second friendly of the pre-season. Depor didn’t have major problems in defence and managed the game at will.

Second friendly on the pre-season. The rival was CSD Arzúa, the big surprise on last season at Tercera División. Coach Fernando Vázquez kept using a 4-4-2 scheme. Álvaro Queijeiro remained on trial and was playing as a starter. There were two Fabril’s players also acting as starters: centre-back Juan Rodríguez and striker Adrián Castro.

The game had a solid pace since the start, by minute 5 Deportivo already had three arrivals, while Abad had to clear the ball with the foot after a misunderstanding in defence. The first shot on target was a header of Juan Rodríguez after a corner-kick (5’).

The visiting side tried to put a high pressure, but Deportivo managed to control the ball and lock up the rival. Lara and Keko Gontán were pretty active on the sides, while Adri Castro and Miku were participating in the plays. But the locals weren’t ending the plays with shots on target, the crosses weren’t finding a receiver or the players were blocked before attempting the shot.

It was until minute 25 that Depor had a shot on target, and it was Miku, who collected a low cross from the left and his strong shot was barely blocked by goalkeeper Raúl Marqueta. And the first goal came three minutes later, Keko Gontán throw a free-kick on the left and, after a deflection at the box, José Lara connected a strong shot that went into the far post.

The first chance for CSD Arzúa was a volley from the edge of the area connected by Iker Hurtado and that was blocked by Carlos Abad (29’). But Deportivo continued dominated and two more goals arrived before the break.

The second goal arrived after CSD Arzúa lost the ball attempting a fast attack, Keko Gontán got it at the edge of the area and released a drilling and crossed shot that hit the far post and went in. Just one minute later, Keko drilled a perfect pass into the left corner of the area, Lara dribbled a rival and assisted Miku, who sent the ball close to the far post.

Vázquez made seven changes at half-time, the scheme continued to be a 4-4-2, now with Keko Gontán and Lara playing at the centre of the attack. Deportivo continued to have control of the actions and the first chances were a shot of Álex blocked by the keeper (55’) and a volley of Keko that went out (56’).

And the fourth goal arrived, it was a corner-kick of Lara from the left, Borja Granero headed the ball at the near post, and Celso Borges found it at the box to push the ball in. Gontán continued to be the most active player on the field and was close to score the fifth goal, but his crossed shot after a solo play missed the target (70’).

Arzúa were unable to hold on the ball and spent the time defending at the edge of the area. Depor showed patience and surrounded the visiting area, and it found the fifth goal. A nice combination at the left side of the area ended with Keko drilling a new pass into the area, and Iago Gandoy was alone there to score the goal. A new collective play almost ended with the sixth goal, but the crossed shot of Salva Ruiz went out (85’).
