MOVES ON DEADLINE DAY

06 Oct 2020
Deportivo made one signing and renewed three players on deadline day. It was unable to close the exit of Diego Rolán, and therefore it missed to sign a new attacker.

Deadline day was more a “renewal day” at Deportivo, because the club announced three renewals on the last day of the summer market. First, the club announced that winger Borja Galán has signed a two-year renewal. The ex-Fabril played the first part of last season with Depor and was later loaned to Racing Santander.

Then the big announcement was that Keko Gontan signed for four years with Deportivo. The playmaker/winger is considered to be one of the most important players at the squad and had offers to leave, but in the end decided to stay and signed a long deal with the Blanquiazul club.

The final renewal that was announced was Álex Bergantiños. The captain signed two more years with Depor. The only signing announced on last day was Derik Osede, the centre-back came for free after ending his contract with CD Numancia.

It was speculated that Deportivo were going to sign a new striker or a winger, but the operation with Diego Rolan complicated everything. The Uruguayan was close to leave and sign for Ligue 1 club Nimes Olympique FC, but the Galician club didn’t reach an agreement about the percentage of a future sell, so he will stay at Depor and was inscribed with the first team.
