Defeat in the last game of the pre-season, Depor had big problems facing the high pressure of the rival and conceded goals at the end of the meeting.

It was the fifth and last friendly game on the pre-season, the only game that was played outside of Galicia (Bembibre, Castille & Leon). The rival was the B squad of Real Valladolid (Valladolid Promesas), a team that will compete in the other subgroup at Segunda B.

Keko had the first opportunity for Depor, this after a pass inside the area that was too slow and that allowed local goalie Samuel García to arrive in time to block the attempt (3’). The first approximation of Valladolid Promesas was a free-kick of Kuki Salazar that went over the crossbar (10’).

The game was equal, Depor were trying to have the ball, but the high pressure of the local team was forcing the Galicians to end the plays with long throws that were easily defended by Valladolid. The home team, meanwhile, was trying to attack by the sides.

The first big chance in the game came at minute 23, Lara collected the ball at the edge of the area and his low and strong shot was deflected by Samuel. The locals replied with a header of Sergio Benito that went out close to the crossbar (26’).

Keko, Lara and Beauvue were combining in attack, but later their moves weren’t ending in a chance to score. More direct was the game of Valladolid Promesas, that’s the reason why they were having more opportunities.

Like in the play in which Kuki Salazar attempted a volley that went out (38’). The first half ended with chances for Valladolid Promesas, starting with a double save of Lucho García in which he blocked the attempts of Zalazar and Paulo Vitor (43’), then Sergio Benito collected a long pass and his crossed shot was saved by Depor’s goalie (45+2’).

Vázquez made two changes at half-time with Borja Granero and Héctor Hernández replacing Derik Osede and Juan Rodriguez. Depor showed a more ambitious face in the second part, it was putting more pressure in attack and, as a consequence, the opportunities started to arrive.

The first chance in the second part was for Depor, Beauvue collected a pass from Lara, but his final shot from the left corner of the box was deflected (50’). At minute 53, a free-kick of Keko Gontán was saved by Samuel

The goal was close to arrive at minute 62, a corner-kick of Keko couldn’t be connected properly by Mujaid at the near post. Then Adri Castro replaced Miku, and Uche Agbo claimed the spot of Álex.

The first chance for Valladolid Promesas in the second part was a direct free-kick of Eliot that went over the crossbar (65’). Then substitute Víctor Socorro was close to score collecting a pass inside the area and again Lucho García made the save (71’)

Keko Gontán should have scored at minute 75, this after collecting the ball inside the area, he was alone before substitute keeper Gaizka, but the winger sent the ball out. Jorge Valín and Iago Gandoy were the last substitutions as they replaced Bóveda and Celso Borges.

At minute 79, Socorro could have scored for the locals, but his low shot went close to the near post. Three minutes later, Adri Castro was close to score pushing in a pass from Keko, but the keeper made the save.

Then the goals arrived for Valladolid Promesas. And the first came as the consequence of the high pressure they were putting in several stages in the game. Coach Baraja had replaced the half of the squad for the final minutes, and the fresh players were putting a high pressure within the final minutes, sometimes even with two men marking inside Depor’s box.

And the goal came as the defence was trying to clear the ball in one of those moments, the ball was passed to Lucho García, who ended assisting substitute Raúl Uche, and he scored drilling the ball between his legs. There was no reaction from Deportivo, this since the high pressure continued and they were simply drought, so it wasn’t strange to see the second goal coming, this time in a lateral free-kick that was deflected at the near post by defender José Manuel Alonso.
