Deportivo debut at Segunda B with the only goal of returning as soon as possible to Segunda A, and the first meeting means to face the most international team in the league.

Referee: Alexandre Alemán Pérez
Kick-off: 19h00 CET (Riazor)

Deportivo will play in the third tier of Spanish football for the third time in their history, in both previous experiences the team arrived at this stage after a traumatic demotion from Segunda, and in both opportunities the team bounced back and got the promotion in the first try. The last time was on the season 1980/81 with los Blanquiazules ending as the runners-up below RC Celta.

Meanwhile, Salamanca CF UDS is a recently founded club (2013) and this is only their third appearance at Segunda División B. Last season they ended 12th in a group with 20 teams, 13 points below the promotion zone.

Deportivo and the original version of Salamanca CF (UD Salamanca) coincided at Primera and Segunda in different opportunities, the last time was during the Primera season 1998/99. Their last visit to the Riazor was a 1-0 defeat with a goal scored by Turu Flores (February 13, 1999).

The competition starts for Deportivo, it’s not the wished beginning as the team left doubts during the summer, but coach Fernando Vázquez knows that the shortness of the competition requires immediate results and will continue using the 4-4-2 formation tested throughout the pre-season.

Team news: The coach picked all the available players, including Borja Galán and Rui Costa, due that isn’t fir to play. The two men out of the roster are Diego Rolán and Héctor Hernández, the latter is the one player at the injury room. The striker is in Uruguay continuing with the paperwork for his work permission, while the left-back is out with a groin injury. Adri Castro from Fabril was picked for the game.

Man to watch: Midfielder Celso Borges. The Central American midfielder is expected to command Deportivo in this transition season, it’s good exam to determine if he is the lungs of a team that desperately searching for an identity.

Picked players: (20) Carlos Abad, Lucho García (goalkeepers); Jorge Valín, Bóveda, Derik Osede, Mujaid, Borja Granero, Salva Ruiz (defenders); Álex Bergantiños, Borges, Uche Agbo, Nacho González, Keko Gontán, Lara, Borja Galán, Gandoy (midfielders);  Beauvue, Rui Costa, Adri Castro & Miku (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-4-2) Carlos Abad – Bóveda, Mujaid, Borja Granero, Salva Ruiz – Keko, Álex Bergantiños, Borges, Lara – Miku, Beauvue.
The recent history of Salamanca CF UDS is very curious, the historic UD Salamanca disappeared and the B squad (CF Salmantino) was used to create this club and replace the original one. And the team was bought by Mexican entrepreneur Manuel Lovato, who filled the squad with American players, specifically Mexicans

And that has created problems, last season Los Charros had four different coaches, the last to be fired was Aitor Larrazabal, who left the club for not using the Mexican players. The solution for this season? To hire a Mexican coach, Sergio Egea. Of the 20 players inscribed with the first team, 12 are foreigners, and 6 of them are Mexicans. For this reason, this is the most international club in the whole league.

The media believes that the team is not ready to compete and that the best possible goal is to search for a spot in the new third tier of Spanish football, the Primera RFEF, but coach Egea has stated that the goal is to end among the first three places and dream with Segunda División, and the Riazor is a good exam for his ambitions.

Team news: Coach Egea is losing striker Luis Madrigal, the Mexican attacker suffered a knee sprain during the week and is out of the meeting. Centre-back Jonathan Lacerda is back from a muscle problem, but he lacks pace and will be on the bench.

Man to watch: Attacker Diego Chávez. The Mexican is 25, he has been described as a fast and quality attacker that’s promising to be the dagger of this team. He left Mexico for disciplinary reasons, which included drug abuse, and this is his big change in Europe. The coach only picked 18 players (he can pick 20), and one of them is Leonardo Sepúlveda, a 19-year-old defender signed from LA Galaxy.

Picked players: (18) Javi Jiménez, Dani Barbero (goalkeepers), Nacho López, Kristian Álvarez, Jonathan Lacerda, Alfonso Candelas, Francisco Delorenzi, Leonardo Sepúlveda, Luis Martínez (defenders); Sergio Molina, Fernando Llorente, Antonio Amaro, Luis Télles (midfielders); Jorge Mora, Ernest Ohemeng, Owen Falconis, Uxío Dapena & Diego Chávez (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (5-4-1) Javi Jiménez – Nacho López, Kristian, Sepulveda, Delorenzi, Candelas - Diego Chávez, Fer Llorente, Molina, Télles – Uxío Dapena.
