Crisis at Depor Ladies after the fourth defeat of the season. The planning of the first half was terrible, and the team only reacted in the second part with the score was 0-2. There was also criticism against the referee.

Manu Sánchez had important casualties for the game. Peke and Carolina Arbeláez missed the game, but new signing Helena Torres was recovered from his injury and made his debut with the team replacing Peke. The coach made changes again after suffering three straight defeats, the main one was the return of Iris Arnaiz. María Calvo, Eva Dios and Tati from Depor Ladies B were picked for the game.

New defeat for a Depor Ladies that only worked in the second part. The coach decided to play with a risky tactic of advancing the defence and putting a high pressure, the result was to see the rival finding two goals and countless cracks at the back. The team pushed for the result in the final part, but it wasn’t possible.

Manu Sánchez was once again making variations searching for the right formula, and once again he was failing. Gaby was attached to the wing and the defence was trying to put a high pressure, and the result was to see a lot of problems since the kick-off.

The advance position of the defensive line allowed long and precise passes searching for the back of the defender, and by minute 10, the visiting side had already created two chances to score, and one of them was the goal of Patricia Mascaró, who crossed Noé Bermúdez after been assisted by Belén.

The second goal could have arrived in a direct free-kick of Estefania Lima ‘Estefa’ that went out close to the post (12’). In the following minutes the visiting side became more passive, and the first big chance for Depor Ladies was a corner-kick of Villegas that hit the crossbar (26’).

But Depor Ladies were unable to keep the momentum and the second goal arrived. The Galicians lost the ball at their side of the field through Gaby and Mireya assisted Belén Martínez with a new long pass, and she didn’t miss from close range.

The second half started with Lía and Lady Andrade replacing Gaby and Kika. The changes gave more fluidity to the team, CD Santa Teresa weren’t finding the same cracks at the back zone and the situation became a local harassment.

At minute 54, Helena Torres scored for Depor Ladies after collecting a cross from Lady Andrade, two minutes later visiting goalie Yoli Aguirre prevented the equalizer saving a shot from Athenea.

The locals started to lose the impulse and the coach tried to refresh the attack with 18-year-old Eva Dios, the player from the B squad debuted replacing Helena Torres.  The team made a final push and had opportunities through Lía and Alba Merino that didn’t meet the target. Later Michelle Romero was the last substitution, but it was too late.

Also to mention that the local players were furious with referee Olatz Rivera, because she didn’t whistle two penalties at the end of the game, the first after a shot of Lía hit the arm of a defender (82’), and later because nothing was whistled after Athenea was fouled inside the area (87’).

This is the fourth defeat in four games for Depor Ladies. It was a bad planning by Manu Sánchez with a draw that didn’t work in the first half, there was a reaction in the second, but the team didn’t seize the opportunities. The next game is the visit to Real Madrid.
