New grey presentation of Deportivo. The team continues to present a solid defence, but once again the opportunities to score were scarce.

Coach Fernando Vázquez decided to present a 4-4-2 formation. For the first time on the season, the coach was playing with two strikers, something that was surprising for the expected conditions in the meeting.

Carlos Abad was the starting keeper, Eneko Bóveda covered the right side in defence, the left flank was for Salva Ruiz. Borja Granero joined Mujaid Sadick at the central positions. Celso Borges and Uche Agbo performed at midfield, Keko Gontán attacked from the right wing, Borja Galán did it from the left, then Miku was making his first appearance as a starter and joined Claudio Beauvue in attack.

At CD Guijuelo, coach Jacobo Montes presented novelties at the lineup, Mohamed Kamal performed at midfield, but he was playing with the expected 4-4-2 figure. Antonio Pino and Damián Zamorano were the references in attack.

New poor game by Deportivo. The team was looking good within the first minutes, but later the locals were more courageous and created some problems against a disappointing Depor that only created one chance to score.

The game had a calm start, both sides were intense, but the first chance to score came until minute 8. It was a long distance shot of Alain Eizmendi that was blocked by Carlos Abad. Two minutes later, a lateral free-kick of Salva Ruiz was barely deflected by local goalkeeper Vincentas Šarkauskas. That was going to be the only opportunity for the Galicians in this half.

The game became more balanced at the middle of the first part. CD Guijuelo was attacking from time to time, while Depor were well planted on the pitch. It wasn’t conceding anything in defence, though later it lacked clarity to create a goal opportunity.

At minute 24, Cristóbal Gil missed the target after finding a loose ball at the edge of the area. Two minutes later, the same Cristóbal came from the back in order to head a cross from the left and he missed the target.

The best from CD Guijuelo came with these plays. It was now Depor the side that was losing the ball at midfield. The locals started to push and were looking more dangerous. It seems that Fernando Vázquez got worried and decided to switch the system, thus Álex Bergantiños replaced Beauvue and Depor were now playing with five defenders.

No change for Depor in the second part. The team continued to be solid in defence and it barely conceded any chance to CD Guijuelo. What happened next is that it barely created a chance to score, so the game was boring in big stages of the second part.

Deportivo continued to show the same lack of football in the second part, CD Guijuelo were trying, but their only approximation within the first fifteen minutes was a shot of Cristobal that missed the target (53’).

CD Guijuelo were still having the ball, but later their attacks were too naïve. Meanwhile, Depor’s passes were imprecise. For this reason, the Galicians barely stepped into the rival’s area. Taking in mind the problems at both teams, by minute 60 the game was already boring.

The second substitution was the entry of b>Rui Costa for Miku. The Venezuelan had a discrete game, barely combining or helping in attack. And the Portuguese didn’t change the picture. He showed up from time to time, but the striker had no impact in the game.

Depor’s first shot on target in the second part came until minute 71, it was a corner-kick in which the volley of Bóveda was caught by Sarkauskas. The best chance in the game came at minute 77, a powerful shot of Kike Pina that Carlos Abad managed to deflect when the ball was going into the top-corner (77')

The best chance for Depor came at minute 79, it was a corner-kick on the left in which Borges headed the ball at the far post, the keeper was bad placed, but the ball hit a rival and went out. Lara was the last substitution as he replaced Borja Galán. The game ended with the red card to Kike Pina, the defender fouled Keko when the playmaker was trying to release a counterattack after a corner-kick for the locals (90+1’).

One more point for Deportivo in a new grey presentation. Only three chances to score for the Galicians in the whole game. The defence remains to be solid, but the team is unable to create danger and keeps leaving big doubts regarding the potential and the promotion possibilities.

For now, Depor and Pontevedra CF lead subgroup 1 with 11 points, the next game is the visit of Racing Ferrol to the Riazor (Sunday, 19h00 CET).

Guijuelo: (4-4-2) Sarkauskas – Parra (Andrés González 79’), Jonathan, Josin, Pina - Cristóbal Gil, Kamal (Deco 75’), Carlos Rubén, Ezimendi (Abraham Pozo 75’) – Zamorano, Antonio Pino (Coronado 87’).
