Experienced defender DJOROVIC is a powerful and disciplined centre-back with excellent positional sense and touch. He is characteristic of defenders from the former Yugoslavia who have played in Spain, such as Antic, Hadzibejic, Spasic and Djukic.

Djorovic started his professional career in Yugoslavia with hometown club NK Priština, but joined Red Star Belgrade after only one season in the first team. He spent four seasons in Belgrade, where curiously he played exactly 100 games, scoring four goals.

He made his international debut in 1994 against Brazil at Porto Alegre, and started every match for Yugoslavia during France 98. Sampdoria and Arsenal both tried to sign him that year, but he rejected their advances, choosing instead to stay at Celta where his brother Zoran also played.

He was much loved at his first Spanish club, Celta de Vigo, whom he left in 2001 to sign a four-year deal with Deportivo. It was the second time coach Javier Irureta signed the player after bringing him to Spain from Red Star Belgrade in 1997. Because Djorovic came on a free transfer, he became among the best paid players at the club, earning about €2 million per season.

Lendoiro said about his transfer to Deportivo in 2001: "The signing of Djorovic was a specific request from coach Javier Irureta and we made a big effort to get him". But his period at Deportivo never proved to be successful. He started his first season (2001/2002) well, but an injury ruined his chances. He rarely played the next season and it was evident that there was no future for him at Deportivo.

During the season 2003/2004 he was loaned out to Segunda División club Elche, together with Dani Mallo, ‘Toro’ Acuña and José Manuel. This loan out contained a clause that Deportivo could cancel his contract, in exchange for €300.000 if neither the Galician club nor Elche wanted to keep him. This was the case and Djorovic left the club as a free man. He commented on his time at the Galician club that "I don’t regret having chosen a big club like Deportivo are and I have met many great professionals here. I am very proud to have played here and have experienced great years in La Coruña". He had reached a total of 11 Liga matches at the club.
