THINKING OF UP LANGREO

01 May 2021
Keko Gontán will skip the important game at the Riazor. Neither Borja Galán will be available. The rival is already demoted to the fifth tier of Spanish football.

Last home game on the season and it’s an important one, the visit of UP Langreo (Sunday 19h00 CET) could certify the continuity at the Primera RFEF if Depor add the three point and if Racing Ferrol at least add a point hosting CD Numancia. And Depor already received a boost for the game as the Galician government certified this week that 5,000 fans can attend to the match, the highest number on this season.

Who doesn’t feel boosted for the game is coach Rubén De La Barrera, because he lost one of his main attackers: Keko Gontán. The Madrilenian winger suffered a hamstring injury in the past game with Marino Luanco, and will not only miss this game, but will also probably skip the last match of o the season at CD Numancia.

At the same time, José Lara is doubtful. The Andalusian winger picked a knock during Thursday’s session and trained apart one day later, though the coach told reporters that he should be available for the meeting.

Meanwhile, Derik Osede (Achilles) and Borja Galán (muscle) remain out injured. In the case of Galán, he suffered a muscle injury on his right thigh during a training session (April 8) and it was considered to be a minor thing, but he already missed three games and will miss Sunday’s match too. At least Claudio Beauvue will be available for the meeting after surpassing a knee knock that left him out of last Sunday’s game.

The main novelties at the lineup are expected to occur on the wings. Rayco Rodríguez will probably replace Keko on the right, while the spot on the left is disputed between José Lara and Rai Nascimento.

At UP Langreo, the Asturian club is already demoted to Segunda RFEF ahead of next season after losing at home before Racing Ferrol (2-3), so they now visit the Riazor having nothing to lose, but also nothing to gain.

In the previous game played at the Nuevo Ganzábal stadium, coach Ángel Rodriguez had problems to build up the lineup as right-back Miguel Santos, midfielder Xurde Menéndez and striker Victor de Baunbag were out injured, but for this game there are no injury concerns at the team.
