NO NEWS ABOUT NEW SIGNINGS

11 Jun 2008
President Lendoiro already returned from his trip to Madrid, but no advances were made about the two incorporations the club is still trying to complete: a new keeper and a new striker. What's generating a lot of information is the chapter of departures. On Wednesday it was known that Deportivo refused Bolton's 2 million offer for Riki, instead the Galician club offered Sebastin Taborda to the Premiership club.

Two are the signings the club still trying to complete: a new keeper and a new striker. President Lendoiro continued during the past week with the negotiations during his trip to Madrid. The papers in Galicia still speculating the two main candidates continue to be Daniel Aranzubia (28) and Manucho (24). Aranzubia ends his contract with Athletic Bilbao at the end of the month, while Depor will have to negotiate a loan spell with Manchester United for Manucho. However, this last option was discarded by Lotina in a radio interview with Onda Cero, while Depor's coach admitted the negotiations with the Basque keeper are stuck.

What's causing a lot of worries is the situation of the players that doesn't count for coach Miguel Angel Lotina. The pre-season stage could begin with 35 players, situation already lived by ex-coaches Irureta and Caparrs and that Lotina wants to avoid. In order to prevent the scenario, it's necessary to negotiate the exit of the players that don't count for Depor's coach, but with the Segunda season ending until this weekend, everything is stopped at this moment.

One of the biggest problems is the situation at the striking zone, the arrival of Omar Bravo is risen the number of strikers to seven, something impossible for a team that only performs with one attacker during the official games (5-2-2-1 or 4-2-3-1 system). It's expected that Lotina will only keep three of them plus the new striker that could be signed. The main candidates to leave are Bodipo, Taborda, Rubn Castro and Adrin.

But a  surprising departure could be Riki, the Madrilenian attacker is one of the strikers that count for Lotina, but the player is calling the attention of the Premiership. In fact, sportpaper Deporte Campen (DxT) informed on Wednesday that Deportivo has refused a 2 million offer from Bolton Wanderers. According to the source, Lendoiro will only release Riki if someone offers at least 3.5 million, exactly what he cost during his transfer from Getafe. DxT also affirms that Depor offered Sebastin Taborda to Bolton and that the English club is currently considering the operation.
