TWO NEW TARGETS FOR THE GOALKEEPING POSITION

26 May 2008
Radio Galega informed on Wednesday that Deportivo is interested in two goalkeepers: Yohann Pele and Diego Cavalieri. However this two options are very difficult to fulfil since clubs like Sevilla FC, Valencia FC and AC Fiorentina are also interested in both players.

It's very well know that Deportivo is searching for a keeper in the market, so far the only names linked with the club were Toni Doblas and Dani Aranzubia, but journalist Gonzalo Soto said on Wednesday's night at Radio Galega that Deportivo is interested in other two goalkeepers: Yohann Pele (25) and Diego Cavalieri (25). Two young promises that have been linked with important clubs in Europe.

Yohann Pel (born November 4th 1982 in Brou-sur-Chantereine, Seine-et-Marne) is a French goalkeeper that's currently playing at Le Mans. He made his entire career in Le Mans and has completed 132 games with the French side since the year 2002. Pel made his debut in Ligue 2 in the 1-0 defeat at FC Istres in September 2002. He established himself as the club's first-choice goalkeeper in the 2004/2005 season as the club won the promotion to Ligue 1, and was the club's first choice for the 2007/2008 campaign, their third consecutive season in the topflight.

However, Pel has been also linked with Sevilla FC. Catalan paper Sport wrote on the past week the Andalucian club has targeted the French keeper as the successor of Andrs Palop who might be sold to Valencia FC. The paper assured that Sevilla and Pel already reached an agreement and that right now president Del Nido is negotiating with Le Mans's president Henri Legarda. It seems the French club is asking for 3.5 million while Sevilla is just offering 2 million. Sport believes that Sevilla will rise its bet and that a deal could be reached during the next days.

The other choice mentioned by Radio Galega is Diego Cavalieri. He's a Brazilian keeper with an Italian passport and that's currently playing at Palmeiras. Cavalieri (born December 1st 1982 in So Paulo) has made all his entire professional career at Palmeiras, and debuted during a 4-0 away win at Rio Claro in the Campeonato Paulista on June 24th 2002. He has played 69 games since then and has been describing as one of the future stars in Brazil.

That's why he has called the attention of several European clubs, including SL Benfica and AC Fiorentina. But it seems the biggest interest is coming from Valencia FC. Valencian sportpaper Superdeporte wrote one month ago the Valencian club already presented a 3.6 million offer to Palmeiras.
