Dudu Aouate succeeded with Israel and his team still in the fight for a place in the next World Cup, but Canada, without De Guzman, is already eliminated. Mexico also suffered a defeat though its chances still intact. Rochela also saw action with Spain’s U-17 squad.

Only Dudu Aouate succeeded with his team in the road to South Africa 2010. Israel was facing an important game in group 2 of Europe. It was visiting Luxemburg and his squad achieved a 3-1 victory. Aouate was the starting keeper despite been sidelined by Lotina for the present liga campaign. He allowed the equalising goal at minute 14 after Liverpool’s Jossi Benayoun scored a penalty in the first minute.

But the goals of Golan and Toama decided the things in the second half. Now Israel occupies the second place in the group with seven points after three matches, just two less than Greece, the leader of the group. Now Israel pay a new visit on Wednesday, this time at Riga against Latvia, while Greece faces a crucial match at Piraeus against Switzerland.

The other two Depor’s players in action in the road to the next World Cup lost their game, because Mexico was defeated by Jamaica at Kinston (0-1). Andr?©s Guardado was suspended for the game and that’s why he didn’t play, but he made the trip with the rest of the squad and witnessed the game from the outside. Meanwhile coach Sven Goran Eriksson decided to use a very offensive lineup with Omar Bravo, Tottenham’s Giovanni Dos Santos and Arsenal’s Carlos Vela since the start, but the experiment didn’t work out as Mexico barely created danger against the locals.

The only opportunity in which Bravo appeared was a play in the first half, Depor’s striker made a pass inside the box to Vela, but he missed the goal sending the ball over the crossbar. Since the scheme was not working, Bravo was replaced by Matias Vuoso at minute 57, this last one is an Argentinean striker that recently obtained the Mexican nationality and that has been linked with Depor before.

Despite the defeat, Mexico still have big chances to reach the last round in CONCACAF, but who was already eliminated is Canada, that’s because it lost at Honduras (1-3). Canada only has one point while Mexico and Honduras have nine. With only two games still in the calendar, the elimination is now a mathematical fact. Julian de Guzman wasn’t able to play since he is injured, in fact he still in A Coru?±a. Other team eliminated for the World Cup is Equatorial Guinea who lost with South Africa (0-1), Rodolfo Bodipo wasn’t called for the game.

Other Depor’s player that had activity in the recent days was David Rochela, the young central defender that performs for Deportivo B. He was part of Spain’s U-17 squad that took part of the 2008/09 UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifying round. Spain played between October 2 and 7 three matches (Vs Faroe Islands, Belarus and Switzerland). The squad coached by Gin?©s Melendez won the first two games (5-0 and 4-0) and lost with Switzerland (0-2), but it was enough to pass the round. Rochela played completely the three matches and even scored one goal against Belarus.

Spain is now advancing to the Elite round, which will be played in the spring, the 28 qualifiers compete in seven mini-tournament groups of four. The group winners then join the hosts in the finals in July, and are split into two groups of four, with the top two progressing to the semi-finals and ultimately the final.
